I usually post about 3-5 photos each post. But try to spread it out a bit. Don't go posting 20x 5 photos of the same session.
Photography
A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.
This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.
There are no sets of photos ever. At most 3 photos from one event or a shoot posted months apart. I sometimes will post 5-6 photos as a story but that’s it
I post few shots of every nth photoshoot as a single post.
Followers don’t love new posts from the same person every day so keep that in mind. I only post 2-3 and I use an app called SCRL to fix the format
No one looks at anything besides moronic reels anymore - so doesn't matter.
From what I've been able to gather from talking to people that do instagram as a job.
Single photos don't make the algorithm unless you have a large following that consistently engage.
So, if you're looking to grow an account, you should be focused on reels and carousels.
3 photos seems to be the sweet spot for me.
I keep all the best photos as the album cover so to speak and then throw a few more in each one.
The longer people scroll through your post, the more the algorithm likes it. Same goes for what you're typing in the caption. One word is easy to skim and move on from. If it's a little longer, and they have to click see more, that's extra time on your post.
You want to keep people looking at it as long as possible.
Use 3-5 hashtags tops.
Post daily if you can.
At the end of the day, shoot for yourself, but if you're trying to grow a business, this is what seems to be working right now. I'm sure they'll change it soon because they always do.
