Anyone ever had issues with a job or client that hires you based on your portfolio, but then asks you to take photos in a manner that goes against what you know are best practices? (alien.top)

For example, being asked to use harsh lighting instead of soft lighting on subjects, using on camera flash, etc.

I’ll do what the client asks, but it concerns me that they don’t trust my knowledge (not saying I’m all knowledgeable).

at that point, you really need to pull the "im the professional" card.

they are hiring you to take high-quality photos of a subject specifically because they lack the skill or equipment to do so. so why are you listening to their unskilled suggestions for setting up your equipment?
