Please no more. God, I’m not your strongest soldier, stop making me fight these battles

[–] BradyReas@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (4 children)

At this point Jokic #1 Embiid #2 is just nature healing. Not even Sixers fans are delusional enough to argue against Jokic anymore

[–] EverySir@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I don’t think they were delusional last year either. It was just such a close race that obviously they’re going to side with their guy.

[–] HitboxOfASnail@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

but I mean, it would depend on how the rest of the year plays out. I'm sure jokic is young to have a phenomenal year, but are we just going to give it to him no matter what? let's just give it to him now then so we don't have to argue about it for the rest of the season

[–] DidiGreglorius@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Current Jokic over a full season has a completely legit argument as the highest offensive peak of all time. If his current numbers hold up and Denver finishes top 2, I don’t see how you can give it to anyone else.

[–] shag_vonnie_vomer@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Nah, lets just give it to Embiid, despite having every significant stat on Jokic side, just because he won it already twice in a row. Honestly some of the dumbest shit I've heard, just to justift the robbery.

[–] Sammonov@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Anyone can win but Embiid. We keeping the same "he hasn't done it in the playoffs" energy that we had for Jokic last year for Embiid.

[–] matgopack@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Eh, I think that Embiid winning one of the last 3 MVPs is perfectly representative of how things went. I don't expect him to win again this year, but that doesn't make it undeserved that he won once (it's not the "who's the best player in the league" award, and I also find it nice to spread around the winner)

[–] Pondos@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Sixers fans are plenty delusional. Last week I had one tell me they should trade away Embiid and build around Maxey.

[–] schwagggg@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

seeing jo get it again and then flop in the playoffs would be so memey

[–] ImGonnaChubbBradley@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I’ll happily fight them

[–] shag_vonnie_vomer@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Can't be a battle, when indeed there is no contest, wasn't last year, won't be this one either.

Just ban MVP talks on r/nba

[–] Goatsanity15@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I agree.

The discourse would be too draining so lets just give it to World Champion and reigning World Cup MVP Dennis Schroeder

[–] 1877itspure@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Villain Brooks MVP campaign is on

[–] bkbeam@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It's easier than ever after last postseason though

[–] PensiveinNJ@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Same bro, same. I'm ready for my discharge. I'm not ready for Jokic v. Embiid Vietnam 2.

Let's just give it to Doncic, you know that's what the NBA wants anyhow.

[–] Stranger2Luv@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

LeBron gonna dominate

[–] sabakasabaka@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Don’t worry, we’re good. Convo is settled for the time being

I don’t think it will be nearly as toxic this year. 1. Embiid got his, so we're not as desperate for him to get one 2. The playoffs made it very clear who the best player in the world is
