Sounds like a draft is being planned for the occupation of Iran, aka Vietnam v.4

Idiots. You are all fucking idiots. Yes, you; from OP to every single person in the comments. All of you are too fucking stupid to spend even 30 seconds reading past the most bullshit, click-bait, headline of all time.

No one is talking about reinstating the draft. No one is talking about specifically excluding Barron Trump. Do you dumb fucks want to know what this article is actually about?

IF the draft DID get reinstated (despite literally no one considering it), Barron Trump MIGHT get exempt because he TECHNICALLY falls outside the maximum height requirements (no special treatment, just the actual limits already defined and laid out).

That's it. That's fucking it. No nepotism. No potential draft. Just complete made up horseshit. It's like saying "If we made drinking milk mandatory for people who are younger than 18, Baron Trump might be excluded because he's older than 18." Like, no fucking shit. That's not a news story, its like a hypothetical a child would come up with.

All of you need to go look in a fucking mirror and rethink your media literacy, because it's fucking garbage. You fucking idiots.

Well now I know one site to never use to check AI, because I wrote and stand by every fucking word.

Sir would you like some chamomile tea??

[–] GreenBeanMachine@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Yeah, just like Trump had bone spurs...

I question him being 6'9. Very conveniently just barely above the maximum of 6'8. I bet some independent doctor would measure him as 6'8 or less. So fuck you for defending some rich nepo fuck.

They seem to be cleverly letting everyone know that he's just barely too tall to get drafted, so that when they do the drafting eventually, no one will question why he wasn't drafted. Clever. Better than paying a doctor to diagnose you with bone spurs.

TL;DR - BARRON TRUMP BARRED FROM MILK DRIVE AS IRAN WAR SPARKS OUTRAGE!

[–] kieron115@startrek.website 14 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Nearly 7 feet tall? JFC. Send that kid on a USO tour so the troops can check out the freak and at least get a good laugh.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (2 children)

So much faux rage. Could you imagine if this guy read Fox News!?

[–] dnick@sh.itjust.works 32 points 4 days ago (2 children)

The outrage might be a little over the top, but the sentiment is valid. Click baity shit like this is why no one pays attention to the actual outages going on.

If people are constantly seeing articles like 'Trump didn't say he would rule out pushing toddlers into wood chippers to combat climate change' and the article goes on to talk about how he was asked about what he had for breakfast, then outrage is a little hard to keep up. I actually think that's the worst/best tactic trump has used... Keep the outage going so steadily that people are worn out when the real stuff is out in the headlines.

[–] thlibos@thelemmy.club 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

This sounds a little to close to “when they go low, we go high”. If the mainstream media had been willing to vilify Trump back in 2016 (even with lies of omission and sensational headlines), maybe he would have never gotten near the GOPedo nomination. Instead we have been fed a steady diet of civility and normalization.

[–] dnick@sh.itjust.works 1 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Not even close, there are so many things to vilify and mock him for, this is more like diluting the pool.

If someone does 10 shitty things, you don't make up 100 other weaker accusations that can be easily dismissed or disproven. Its like someone kills 10 people and someone starts making up dumb little lies about them shoplifting and tripping old ladies and kicking 100 puppies instead of just the one they actually kicked. If a lot of what you're hearing about the guy is a bunch of lies and half truths, it's a whole lot easier for him to convince you that the 'killing 10 people' is just a bunch of exaggerations too.

[–] thlibos@thelemmy.club 1 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (1 children)

I agree with your point for this particular story, but *my *point stands even if it was a side-track from this story. I am not saying that every story about Trump back in 2016 should have been lies or "toddlers in to wood chippers" clickbait. The media failed us hard and is mainly responsible for Trump through their grandstanding and normalizing of him back in early 2016 and every day since then. If they had done their job, there wouldn't have been Trump the nominee, let alone President Trump. Maybe there would have been some other cryptofascist GOPedophile by now, but Rubio, Bush, Kasich, Cruz, etc. would have been orders of magnitude better than Trump...and human filth like Musk, Miller, and Bannon would have never gotten near the presidency.

[–] dnick@sh.itjust.works 1 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

Yeah, i think we probably agree on most things in that direction. My view is that early on they failed to focus on the glaring, obvious issues and instead used the ridiculousness of him as candidate as click-bait for views, and then later continued to focus on and fall for every misdirection he and his cloud of followers dropped, both intentionally and unintentionally. In my view they ended up hiding all the legitimate issues in a smokescreen of click-bait and likely doomed us to either Armageddon or who knows how long a period of cleanup or simply slow decline.

This 'his kid is going to avoid the draft' angle, when not only has a draft not been brought up, but also that he simply falls into the range of 'all tall kids that would be exempt' is just the latest is a series of stories obviously relying on a false start just to get people riled up if they read just the headline.

Seems to exist all over Lemmy. I'm new around here, migrated from Reddit just a week ago, but this kind of post would get downvoted into nothingness over there. Not for the message, obviously, but for the self-righteous indignation, the name calling, for just being one big spoiled brat temper tantrum. So far, it's the only thing I miss.

[–] partofthevoice@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

At least they don’t bleed in the form of transistor discharges. I’ll take my tempered fellow over the swarm, any day.

[–] JensSpahnpasta@feddit.org 1 points 3 days ago

You are so correct - that article is a typical example of all the propaganda going around during a war. And yes, we know that Barron will never fight in a war, but that article is propaganda.

[–] PhoenixDog@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

Social media and revenue through clicks have ruined journalism.

[–] VonBrewskie@lemmy.zip 0 points 3 days ago

You mad bro? How that pedopresident you voted for working out? That, "I'm the peace President, no new wars," guy working out. You've been had, yah mook. Take the L. We need this dude out of office. It's hurting everyone, not just the phantom liberals you all make up to froth at. One finger points out, three point back, my dear chudmiester. Damn these dudes are sad. I'd feel bad for them, but ah, I don't. Have the day you voted for! K byeeeeee!

[–] Lucelu2@lemmy.zip -1 points 4 days ago

Bullshit. you are obviously either a bot or some partisan hack. Fuck Barron Trump. He is a rich boy. Rich boys don't get drafted. He is also some kind of freak. He would never be admitted to a military academy... unless of course they are directed by a Hegseth (MORON).

[–] albinodinofanclub@lemmy.zip 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I'd be surprised if the military wouldn't give him a waiver for being in inch too tall. Im thinking you don't have much military experience yourself.

[–] Lucelu2@lemmy.zip 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Gee, he probably inherited those bone spurs.

[–] albinodinofanclub@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

Is it bone spurs or is he too tall? You're a bit all over the place and frankly sound moronic.
