In a post from a few days ago, I noticed that someone mentioned that they were afraid to post about their dislike of the Tudor BB58 for fear of downvoting. You know what? The BB is a boring watch that's not worth the money, and Tudor wouldn't be half as popular as it is without the connection to Rolex. If Rolexes were as attainable as they were in past years, cut that by a factor of 10. Would you really buy a BB if the reality were that you could just save a little bit more and get a Rolex Submariner? That's my hot take. What's yours?

I hate Cristopher Wards branding. I know it’s not but it sounds like a fashion brand name similar to Michael Kors or Steve Madden. That’s my two cents

On that note, I dislike IWC and Longines because their logos look janky

Yep. I know they make great quality/value watches but just can't stand the name

I hate the constant mentions of CW on Reddit.

If you solely got your knowledge from /r/watches you would think CW is one of the biggest brands out there and not a microbrand with an identity crisis that heavily “borrows” from more prestigious brands.

People say they are a good value for the money but I don’t see it. Why would you want to spend $1k+ on a watch that is just trying to ride the coattails of an Omega and will probably change its logo 3 times before it ships?

So, if you saw when CW started. A rich guy and his friends said "how come someone doesn't make an affordable, high-quality watch?" Thus begat The CW brand. As a lark for a rich guy.

Fast forward to now. They still use cheap clone movements - maybe some SW200's for stupid prices - but offer ZERO value.......when that was supposedly their mission.

They are now an expensive watch....with no meaningful history, accomplishments, recognition, or unique designs (or quality). Maybe. Just maybe, try to achieve those things before asking the same price as tried and tested brands.

Most designs are 99% "homage" and bracelets are still cheap feeling pin (not screw) units. TBH Even if they were screws, they'd still feel cheap.

I would have bought a few of the watches if the logo was better. I hate it so much

Heavily agree. I feel like their branding is holding them back from much more appeal. The original logo was atrocious, and the new one isn’t much better, but the name itself sounds like a fake British sounding name that some company has slapped onto a fashion watch.

That said, I do love their new Twelve.

[–] J_bravo_@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Very much this. The brand name automatically makes it sound like a Daniel Wellington clone to me. I’ve mentioned hating the name but liking their designs before and got downvoted for it. The twelve, bel canto, and new moonphase are really good looking pieces.

The person Christopher Ward was a cofounder of the company Christopher Ward. They went with that name for the company because they wanted an Anglo sounding name. The person Christopher Ward has since left the company Christopher Ward.🤪

And their stupid, stupid hands. Hate the trident.

[–] AniviaPls@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

It would be so much better as just Ward
