overview for CosmoKing2

[Advice] Been on the fence about buying myself a "nice" watch. I saw this citizen discounted, what do you guys think? in c/watches@style.land

If this was 40-41mm with sapphire I would have already bought it.

So, if you saw when CW started. A rich guy and his friends said "how come someone doesn't make an affordable, high-quality watch?" Thus begat The CW brand. As a lark for a rich guy.

Fast forward to now. They still use cheap clone movements - maybe some SW200's for stupid prices - but offer ZERO value.......when that was supposedly their mission.

They are now an expensive watch....with no meaningful history, accomplishments, recognition, or unique designs (or quality). Maybe. Just maybe, try to achieve those things before asking the same price as tried and tested brands.

Most designs are 99% "homage" and bracelets are still cheap feeling pin (not screw) units. TBH Even if they were screws, they'd still feel cheap.

This is so wrong. When I'm at my weekend home in the Mariana Trench (seasonal, of course) I frequently rely on my watch. How else would I gauge the depths, time, and pressure? With much more modern, precise, computerized equipment in the submersible? Pshaw.

For real. Certification flies out the window once your new watch gets banged around, even slightly.

Same. For some reason, I always found the metal door jamb (around the magnetic lock) at ATM booths with my watch.

Oh Hardlex, I hardly knew ya.

I guess now its just an indicator of quality for me if they use sapphire - as it isn't expensive. It's just not cheap like mineral.

Bought a great looking Dufa meca-quartz, but returned it as soon as I discovered the domed crystal wasn't sapphire. That's just begging for trouble.

And those old dive watches from the 60's? Only rated for 5atm. So, on a normal day, went I'm not on call for Seal Team 6, I think I'm be fine with any watch that is 5atm.

In fact there is huge controversy about needing anything more and swimming with one is absolutely fine.

I love dive watches, but it is quickly becoming apparent that they serve little purpose now.

Other controversial opinion: Watches are too damn thick and big. It's like the trend with car emblems. Refinement is why I got into this game.
