I like that Proton is going after gmail users to be honest, i think a lot of gmail users are unaware how happy Google is with them being their customer. In my experience people are much less oblivious about Google making profit with YouTube or Meta making profit with Facebook and Instagram for example. I much rather have a company stay out of my (personal) e-mail then out of my media consumption habits. I think many gmail users actually agree despite them continuing to using an email service made by an ad company.
