Chet Holmgren’s rookie year stats are insane. 15.7 pts, 2.6 assists, and 7.5 rebounds (with 2 blocks and 1 steal) per game.

Throw in his shooting splits of 52.7 / 46.3 / 90, a feat achieved only by nine other players in the NBA, and you not only have an argument for rookie of the year but a historic one at that.

For comparison, Wembanyama is averaging 18.6 points, 2.5 assists, and 9.3 rebounds (with 2.4 blocks and 1 steal) per game, but at much less efficient 43.2 / 28.3 / 76.6 shooting splits.

Regardless, excited to witness the dawn of what could be basketball’s next great rivalry.

Who do you guys think deserves ROY?

Chet is definitely helped by having a good roster around him but the Spurs would still win games with him instead of Wemby. The team is pretty bad, but no need to pretend like it’s completely devoid of talent or way worse than just a normal, young rebuilding team.

The Spurs have 3 wins. Two of them came because Wemby went off in the 4th. In the other Wemby dropped 38/10 on 57/50/100. Who knows what would happen if they swapped places but I don’t see how we win those games if Chet can’t replicate those performances.
