AFAB really feels like a regressive term, like we’re re-segregating folks into out groups.

Idk.

If trans women are women then why do we need AFAB to differentiate. How is this not just moving the differentiator from the set of naughty bits to the words used to describe the naughty bits you were born with, and then how is that different than gender?

I guess I’m an old.

Because in this case it's relevant as they won't have the organ in question

Right or wrong, I think of AMAB / AFAB as medical terms.

While I'm willing to amend my position on these terms, there is a need for a non-judgemental medical term due to things like this.

I guess I’m an old.

No, you're right: afab and amab should only be used in contexts in which it is actually important information. E.g. medical. In all other cases it is unnecessary.

The presence of a prostate is relevant here though

[–] CorrenteAlternata@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

But that's not what the original comment wrote. The presence of a prostate might be relevant, the assigned gender at birth is not.

Nah youre right it was the wrong term

I'm happy that we agree, but there was no need to delete your comment :)
