6. No linking to piracy
Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.
We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

Didnt know this was set in Pacific Nortwest! Cool!
The advertisements for the game didn't mention it at all. But as soon as the game starts I was like "Wait is this Whidby Island"?
Which actually kind of backfired on me since for work I had to regularly drive through Whidby late at night. Some of the games monsters were hard not to think about alone at 3 AM. π
Technically itβs set in Washington, but fictional Bright Falls is based on Snoqualmie WA, North Bend WA (similar to Twin Peaks) and then also Crater Lake OR
If that's what the devs said, sure. But the game does literally start with you taking a ferry to an island which always see very whidby/orcas/san juan.
But I'll admit to my bias, I was driving through whidby at night on a regular basis when I played the game so they always seemed linked to me.
Oh Iβm sure that was a direct lift, thereβs a ton of specific buildings and areas around that are straight outta twin peaks too.
Just bring a couple extra flashlights, and maybe a light switch and you'll be fine.
Days gone
I just finished Days Gone earlier this week, and that game was solid. I wish I played it sooner.
I slept on it for a real real long time, had it in my library for like a year before I got around to it. Ended up getting platinum on it my first playthrough I liked it so much.
I do like me some apocalypse. Thanks π

Get the dlc, itβs 100% worth it, even the stuff they added for non-dlc users is pretty awesome

I just checked my library and actually seem to have grabbed these for a free a while back, so will be installing these the next few weeks :)
I'd start with 1, they're not chronological but I think it was the best in the series. True Colors is second.

Oxenfree is an adventure game that takes place on an island off the coast of northern Oregon. Good little game that tells its story in about 5 hours.

I don't have any specific recommendations but I'm from the Pacific Northwest and it's really interesting to me to see a post like this. Are you from there too?
Nope not at all haha, from Scandinavia myself. Just very much love the whole Pacific Northwest vibes seen in series like Twin Peaks and such. Really want to make a trip over just to have seen it once.
There's a ton of Scandinavian influence in western Washington state where I'm from. I think you'd feel pretty at home. π

It is a chill game. Basically you deliver mail every day to NPCs and have conversations with them. That's basically it but I really enjoyed it.

Tell Me Why is similar to Life is Strange (Dontnod developed both games) and it's set in southern Alaska. It's worth checking out.

Thimbleweed Park seems to fit your criteria. One of the reviews even compares it to Twin Peaks. It's a point and click murder mystery adventure game with where you have to switch between 5 characters.
It's been years since I've played but I think the setting was in a fake Northwest Pacific town.
Fun fact, the names in the phone book and the titles/stories of the books in the library came from Kickstarter backers. Some of the books were pretty funny.

If you're cool with lower poly graphics, ADACA was recently recommended to me. Haven't tried it yet but looks to be set in Pacific Northwest.
