My hands tend to shake, possibly from excessive masturbation. I recently watched a video where a guy was caught using an electronic male masturbator by a woman and the scene went to a happy ending. Anyways, it got me thinking — if I switch to using a device like that, could it help reduce my hands from shaking? What's your opinion on electronic toys? Do you think they're a good alternative?

Is this a bait or a joke? Go to a doctor

Go to a doctor

There are many reasons why your hands may tend to shake, and none of them are masturbation. And no, you won't go blind either.

Talk to your doctor if you worry about this stuff. Shaky hands could be a symptom of a harmless combination of your genetics (essential tremor, that kind of stuff), not getting enough sleep, stress, or it could be a sign of something bad (early onset Parkinson's, thyroid issues), or maybe it's just low blood sugar. Don't listen to the internet for medical stuff, get a professional's opinion!

As for sex toys, some people swear by them, others find them more trouble than they're worth. They won't stop your hands from shaking but that doesn't mean you can't try them if you're interested.

Your hands shake for some other reason which you should have checked out by a doctor. Snappin your carrot doesn’t cause your hands to shake.

[–] Notyou@sopuli.xyz 19 points 1 day ago

Other people mentioned the medical stuff, so..... Fuck yeah get some toys. I got an autoblower and it has been enjoyable. Make sure you use water based lubricant (depending on the toy, most are silicone). Don't use silicone lube with silicone toys. Also make sure you keep it clean and dry between storage. Corn starch works for drying powder, if you don't wanna buy special toy cleaning powder.

I would look into one with an easy clean up. I saw some toys that has the back open so if you "make a mess" in the toy then it would just shoot out the end.

Also, fuck the haters. I know most people see men with sex toys as either "gross" or "funny" but I'm the one enjoying myself when they are still hanging on to baggage. Besides Megan Thee Stallion told me that "Everybody talking shit probably sucks anyway."

The shaking might be an essential tremor (I have one and it's hereditary in my family). It's usually a benign condition but you should talk to your doctor in case it's something more serious as it can be related to brain tumors or other shit you really need to jump on.

There's no relation to masturbation but, hey, if you want a sex toy then buy one.

[–] slurp@programming.dev 59 points 1 day ago

Masturbation won't do that, you should probably go to a doctor. Also, give a toy a go if it sounds fun!

[–] Extrasvhx9he@lemmy.today 32 points 1 day ago

Yeahhh kinda seems like a medical thing you should talk to a doctor.

Just out of curiosity, I would like to hear what link you thought exists between excessive masturbation and shaky hands.

[–] Hellinabucket@lemmy.world 33 points 1 day ago

Bro spends so much time jerking it he thinks his hand is just like that now.

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 17 points 1 day ago

Right? Everyone knows masturbation makes you go blind or grow hair on your palms.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Gotta be honest. As I read this comment, and it began asking for a link, after OP was talking about watching a porn video.......I really thought you were going a whole different direction with your question...

[–] lurch@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

lmao, it didn't even occur to me. i don't horny post on main 😆

When it comes to sex toys, it all depends on your kinks and preferences.

You can try an electronic masturbator, or perhaps you can simply tape a fleshlight to a table and thrust into it. A massage gun can be fun, too! A shower with a strong concentrated stream of water can emulate that vibration as well, and simplifies cleanup. Maybe experiment with a dildo or butt plug; gay men have been on it for literal millennia, and I can say from experience that it feels amazing (with some practice). Perhaps you can get on "dating" apps and get someone to come give you a handjob, if that suits your fancy.

You can also just try changing the way you touch yourself. A different grip, or even a different hand, perhaps? Or try rubbing the head of your penis with your palm in a circular motion for something intense (lube recommended). Are your nipples sensitive? They can be erogenous zones for some men, so it might be worthwhile to try playing with them.

Lots of ways to achieve an orgasm without putting the same strain on your hands, but like what others have said, unless you're a professional that wanks 8 hours a day, it's probably not the masturbating that's causing the pain.

What the actual fuck did I just read?

[–] Num10ck@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

consider a hand therapist, which is a subset of physical therapy.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I mean......for everybody in these comments who are making OP feel stupid for thinking his shakey hands are related to shaking his dick, might I remind you all that theres a whole generation out there that were discouraged from masturbation by saying they'll go blind, or their palms will get hairy.

At least this guy is (falsely) seeing a real cause and effect. He jerks it, and his hand keeps jerking. It's reasonable to think "I shook it too much."

That being said, OP, go see a doctor. Because that's not a thing. It sounds like you might have parkinsons, or some kind of damaged nerves. I'm not a doctor so I can't say. But there does sound like some major issue here.

[–] DontTreadOnBigfoot@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

While your point about myths is valid, I haven't seen anybody make fun of him.

Everyone in seeing is just saying that it probably has nothing to do with that, is curious where that thought came from, and is recommending a visit to a doctor

Unless there were other comments that got mod removed already and I'm not seeing them?

[–] ieatmeat@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Who's to say he has a medical condition? My hands shake for some time after carrying heavy bags, but the shaking stops after a while. Maybe the guy strains his firearms a lot when he's masturbating?

[–] DontTreadOnBigfoot@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

who's to say he has a medical condition?

A doctor

Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't.

Better to have it checked than to let something possibly get worse.

[–] borf@lemmynsfw.com 15 points 1 day ago

Go to the doctor

[–] rufus@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

If you're interested in finding out, why don't you buy one and try for yourself? They're not that expensive (at least the non-electronic ones)... I hear some people like it. And I mean if you're not fond of the current situation, you should switch up things and try something different anyways.

(Edit: I'd get a cheap one, see if I like it and the either throw it in the trash or have learned something and then decide if I want some $250 device with all the bells and whistles and buttplug.io integration. But YMMV on that.)

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

the shaky hand was a classic myth passed among old catholics to discourage masturbation

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world -5 points 1 day ago

Which makes no sense. Everybody should masturbate. The girls who try to hold a pill between their knees are the most likely to need a morning after pill from wearing their knees as earings.

[–] BlindFrog@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I used to be unable to hold my right hand still in the air without slight tremors, and I noticed how it went away some months after I quit playing this one mmo with excessive clicking. Phlebotomy is so much easier with a calm hand. Maybe the toy would help if it's hands-free?

Adding this fun read because I know hands do get numb from holding strongly vibrating things for excessive periods of time: https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/docs/83-110/default.html

Moreso in your jerking hand, or both? Not that I have any qualifications to answer further -- better to check with your doctor how serious it is.

MMO with excessive clicking.... runescape?

... idle rpg? cookie clicker? (joking)
