Wtf no one said TOM&JERRY??

[–] N00b22@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I used to watch a lot of Boomerang in Latin America, they aired either OG Looney Tunes or Tom and Jerry for 1 hour daily

[–] dan1101@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

The background art in the early ones was beautiful.

[–] isagani@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 year ago

I was about to type about tom and jerry lmao

Pinky and the Brain.

Although now as a middle aged man, Bluey.

Bluey is GOAT level.

Reboot

It may not be the answer I gave at the time, but it's the best balance now of "liked it as a kid" and "like it as an adult"

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm terrified of rewatching it and it not living up to my nostalgia.

[–] Kit@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 year ago

A documentary was released on the show last month. During production they were given the original master tapes for the show and have been slowly releasing all of the episodes in glorious 4k for free on YouTube. Check them out - they hold up to nostalgia better than you'd expect.

[–] SplashJackson@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

Alphanumeric!

[–] Kit@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 year ago

Make sure you check out the documentary that was released last month on YouTube! It's called ReBoot Rewind.

Basically any fantasy cartoon that featured a voyage or some kind of quest was a favorite when I was little.

  • The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin
  • Dungeons & Dragons
  • Pirates of Dark Water
  • Conan the Adventurer
[–] loaf@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

Dungeons & Dragons is such a classic. I still watch it on occasion.

[–] hakase@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Pirates of Dark Water was such an underrated show. It still makes me mad that it got canceled.

SpongeBob. The early seasons were and still are god-tier

[–] Landless2029@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Not my favourite but I'm throwing this out tbere.

Gargoyles

[–] NineMileTower@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (2 children)

This shouldn't be the answer because it's not really for kids. But it is, and will always be, The Simpsons.

Every evening at 6pm on UPN I would watch the Simpsons with my dad. I went from watching and understanding Bart to now watching with my daughter and seeing it through Homer's eyes.

I have a soft spot for Hey Arnold! and Rugrats... If I had to pick one from another but Nick that would be Courage The Cowardly Dog.

Starblazers

[–] sylver_dragon@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)

My all time favorite was Robotech, though it has not aged well.
I also went through a lot of Disney in my youth:

  • Gummi Bears
  • Duck tales
  • Darkwing Duck

And then there was the smattering of others:

  • Dungeons and Dragons
  • Thundercats

Samurai Pizza Cats. My grandma would have tapes of it so whenever I went over to my grandma's house, chances are this show would be playing at some point haha. The episode I remember the most is the one with the dragon.

Arabian Nights. The adventures, Jeenie, Magic carpet, Abu, and everything was awesome.

[–] davidgro@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Tiny Toon Adventures, then Animaniacs.

Kinda giving away my age, but Animaniacs was right around the time I just started appreciating characters such as Minerva Mink and Hello Nurse.

Alfred Jodocus Kwak

It's a Dutch show that was beautifully drawn and animated in Japan. It still looks fantastic and it takes you seriously as the material is quite mature. It's about ww2, sort of like deep space 9. There's a lot of world exploration and adventure and it adresses societal issues. The only bummer is that the gender norms are quite old fashioned so it might not be appropriate for your kids based on your views.
