I watch bodycam videos on YouTube. A ton of them come from red states; they're rural. I see the resistance to cops in red states as sort of "muh rights" but it occurs to me that Leftists (like me) may also stand up to bullshit (just not the same bullshit).

I know that I think cops are corrupt, but I also won't fight someone with a gun. What are your thoughts on how this divide might play out?

It's weird to me what people tolerate in red states that we absolutely do not here in Oregon.

Random sobriety checkpoints were found to be unconstitutional here. You can't just decide to close a road and pull everyone over.

Red states apparently love that shit.

“Before government officials can embark on a search or seizure for evidence to be used for this purpose, they must have individualized suspicion of wrongdoing. Further, unless they can show to a court’s satisfaction, after the fact, that they did not have time to obtain a warrant, the authorities must have judicial authorization, in the form of a warrant, before the search or seizure.

Defendant was seized when his vehicle was stopped. His vehicle is, like other possessions, an “effect” in which he is entitled to be “secure against unreasonable search, or seizure.” Or. Const. Art. I, § 9. His person and documents were searched and the evidence obtained was used to convict him of a crime.

These acts occurred in the absence of any belief that he had committed an offense. The officers did not comply with the constitutional standards for searches and seizures. Or. Const. Art. I, § 9. The evidence must be suppressed.”

What does your question mean? What is "people are worse"?

Cops are bad everywhere. They will ally themselves with anyone who is rich and powerful. Cops don't care what party the judge or mayor is in, because power is the point.

Non-white people who physically resist the pigs or open carry, for example, know that there's an extra high chance the racist pigs will smoke them. At the same time, they get targeted more just because of their appearance. So the data on who acts in what ways around cops is skewed in weird ways.

Statistically speaking, police and violence and all that come more from red states. The more red the worse it is.

I will have to go out on a limb and say I wonder if the answer might be blue states based on my experience with New York. Bucky, case in point. There was a prisoner in 2006 named Bucky who escaped from prison, unaware he had only a few days left of it (that's been a meme in this whole thing). He escaped by modifying kitchen equipment while on kitchen duty and cutting a hole in a vulnerable area of the interior. When he escaped, the state troopers were sent out to find him, and they proved to be completely ineffective because they just ran around and around aimlessly trying to interpret weak clues. Rather than, you know, trying to imbue some effectiveness in them, half-way through the search, they got aggressive when looking for leads and ended up killing persons of interests in their impatience because they too were getting aggressive, as well as ruining the peace with how many vehicles they were roaming by neighborhoods a day and spending tens of millions of taxpayer dollars on the manhunt. Eventually they felt the sting of it all and made the personal move of hunting down and threatening Bucky's whole family with death, hoping that news would reach him and he would surrender, which he did. He currently sits in maximum security as we speak.

Never have I seen that insanity topped.

I just don't understand what's the point of fighting the police. You will never win even if you're right. The best you can do is run away or comply, right? I just genuinely don't understand the fight perspective as non American.

Some people fight because they are stunned and confused, as cops will often attack with overwhelming force without identifying themselves. Others fight because some people do get away.

In the grimmiest case, people fight because they know that they are about to get "death by cop" because some power tripping or racist asshole knows they can kill them and just get away with it.

I mean fuck, 13 prison guards just beat a man to death in a New york state prison hospital while he was handcuffed, and the only reason anything is being done is that 4 considered the murder so mundane they didn't even take off their body cameras. They dragged him in handcuffed and dazed, already clearly beaten, then proceeded to punch his face, kick is groin, stuff a rag into his mouth as he screamed, lift his body up by his neck, breaking his spine, and then pushed him up against a wall to die. They then stripped him, took of the handcuffs and put him on the gurney and pretended they didn't know why he was near dead. The NY AG release the footage of it. You can watch a dozen men murder him in cold blood. The worst part? It is clearly completely normal for them to do this shit. They just finally killed someone.

I can name a dozen more cases like the above off hand, in the wider world or in our prisons, done by cops or prison guards.

When faced with the above when you comply, why not try to fight your way out? If every stop is a possible death sentence, why not try to survive by killing them first?
