What is "one-shotted" in the context of drugs, specifically psychedelics? I.e., why does that term make the person first think of ayuhuasca?

[–] The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world 9 points 6 days ago (1 children)

In the case of drugs, people usually refer to someone being "one shotted" when they experience long term or permanent changes because they took too much, the wrong drug, or just weren't psychologically ready for it.

Thanks, that makes sense

My guess is they overhaul their life after a trip; realize they hate their job and go do something else.

Just a guess though

Sounds reasonable, I'll take it!

[–] Boozilla@sh.itjust.works 8 points 6 days ago (2 children)

I tried it. Looks like a very fun and addictive game that I'm too dumb to play well.

[–] RavenFellBlade@startrek.website 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Realest comment right here. Factorio does not want me to play it. I'd stink it up with my unimaginative, linear thinking.

Everyone starts with a big pile of spaghetti. Refining that spaghetti over years of replays is the way you get good

If thou stare to deep into the factory the factory stares into you(and consumes you)

Nowadays I'd say that applies more to balatro than anything else

Currently dealing with a Rim World addiction

E/acc people are slobbering clods. Don’t follow that account. Same as the protonatalism freaks.

[–] The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Just tried to look it up. So e/acc is basically AI bros?

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Here's people mocking them

Yeah. The ethos is basically "AI will solve everything, so if we just solve AI, we can ignore everything else. AI will even solve the issues with AI, so we shouldn't waste any time solving them first."

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

So basically religion (faith) + AI...

I can't imagine how this could turn out bad.

[–] SamboT@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I dont really understand why they shouldnt be able to believe that. They are people with their own interests and ideals. Why does that make them bad?

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

It makes them ignorant and irresponsible.

[–] SamboT@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Thats pretty standard human behavior

What is this meme about? I'm not a developer, so I have no idea. I'm speaking as mod and deciding whether to pull it..

[–] merc@sh.itjust.works 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This meme is about Factorio, a fun game that some kinds of people (especially engineers) can get obsessed about.

I assume someone is commenting not on the meme itself, but on whoever posted it and their "e/acc" affiliation.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 week ago

Thanks for explaining it to me. I'll let it be.

[–] merc@sh.itjust.works 27 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If you liked Factorio but want cuter characters and less violence, try Oxygen Not Included.

[–] mosiacmango@lemm.ee 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

less violence

You say that, but if those dupes dont put on the fucking spacesuit again for the millionth time, the colony is going to get some "fresh hires" soon.

[–] merc@sh.itjust.works 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Or drop the 800 kg of ice while going up the colony's main ladder just because their shift ended, or dig a block out and decide rather than just stepping down to the floor, that they'll now jump up onto a ledge on the wall and get stuck until they start to piss themselves and/or suffocate?

[–] Acters@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago (2 children)

I have Oxygen not included a shot and it's more of a human management type game than the more exponentially growing machinery base that factory offers

[–] merc@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago

At the beginning, yes. But, once you reach the mid-game your dupes' needs are basically managed. The end-game is all about crazy engineering.

[–] usrtrv@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Agreed. I love both games, but ONI is a colony sim like RimWorld or Dwarf fortress.

[–] Acters@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Yes, that is more succinctly put than my comment. ONI is it's own game that has more resemblance to RPG elements on top of the colony sim elements. It isn't the game for me, but I can see the appeal!
