We need to appropriate this image and post it every time an airplane crashes or eggs go up 0.25.

Every time they fire a critical public safety team then scramble to try to rehire them.

This needs to be our image now.

Like this? Would look better if the crown was replaced with a jester hat

[–] 7toed@midwest.social 2 points 1 day ago

I think I'm gonna do shrooms since I cannot do this bullshit anymore. Where the fuck is the world heading.. :(

[–] zaperberry@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If the goal of taking shrooms is to forget about what's happening around the world despite our human potential or the pain of every day life; might I recommend something like meth or heroin instead?

Shrooms at this point will probably just open your mind up to the really dark thoughts you're subconsciously suppressing and make you more depressed. Tripping on shrooms isn't something that heals you, it's the changes you make after the trip that matter.

Also, I'm kidding about doing meth or heroin. Don't.

Yeah, just do pot. It's safe and should get your mind off things pretty effectively.

America is wild man. You’ve got a dictator doing what ever he wants and then you’ve got states suing, I don’t even know who they’re suing (Trump?), judges blocking orders and stuff.

Yaa like Trump has ever been on or near public transit. He doesn't believe in it either

[–] taladar@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

To be fair public transit would be a lot less appealing if you would meet people like Trump or Musk on there.

[–] Diddlydee@feddit.uk 175 points 2 days ago (21 children)

It'll be remarkable if he doesn't get assassinated in the next few years.

[–] nul9o9@lemmy.world 133 points 2 days ago (5 children)

He and Elon should keep making public appearances together.

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 26 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Elon Musk’s next public appearance:

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 25 points 2 days ago (6 children)

Trump is going to start wearing Baron as a hat next, following in Elon's footsteps.

That's a terrible awful thing, don't give people ideas. Don't keep posting that everywhere and getting it in people's heads. Don't remind people that there is so few billionaires compared to common folks that it would be almost trivial to accomplish with large majority support

You can have a democratically elected king. It's only not a democracy when the king decides who takes the throne after them, instead of having an election. We have a Democratic Kingdom, say it with me phonetically -Dema-kratik-king-dumb-. Did we want this? I dont fuckin know... a majority kept voting for it so we the people must have fuckin wanted it. What is dead however, is the republic. Ain't no one representing you, you just vote people into a throne.

Why does he even have a say in whatever congestion pricing is for a specific city?

[–] m4xie@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

He's arguing that it's because federally funded highways go into the city.

So is it time for 1788 France now?

[–] tazzy@lemm.ee 4 points 1 day ago

Just IMAGINE if Obama did this? Isn’t it crazy??

[–] Ronno@feddit.nl 32 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Just to check, because I'm no longer sure:

Is this real?

[–] merdaverse@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yes. Satire sites are obsolete these days.

Who called 249 years til they get a king again?

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 55 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Great, so the Cheeto declared himself King now. I'm trying to remember what people did to resolve the problems with kings in the past...

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 33 points 2 days ago

Something in French.

[–] Giga@feddit.org 87 points 2 days ago

Kill the king, feed the people. Death to the American monarchy.

[–] NotLemming@lemm.ee 1 points 1 day ago

In the old times the king bore the failures of his kingdom. They chopped him up and put the parts around the borders for protection and watered the crops with his blood. Just sayin.

Okay... so in less than a day, any plausible deniability that Trump thinks himself the dictator of the USA has completely evaporated.

[–] SeaUrchinHorizon@reddthat.com 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

You would think so, wouldn't you? I have had the distinct displeasure of viewing Reddit's r/conservative subreddit though, and to them this is just Trump "trolling."

What's that narcissist's prayer again? "He didn't say that. And if he did, it wasnt that bad. And if it was, it's not a big deal. And if it is, that isn't his fault. And if it was, he didn't mean it. And if he did, America deserved it."

I legitimately cannot get out of this country fast enough. I already have a plan in motion to escape, as a minority I can't escape the constant anxiety that something terrible is going to happen to me here..

Is there a reason conservatives dislike congestion pricing other than spite?

Gods, they're just the worst fucking people.

[–] 2pt_perversion@lemmy.world 50 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Same reason congestion pricing is hated everywhere until it's implemented and people start seeing the benefits, people are cheap. Coincidentally also the reason congestion pricing works so well at regulating demand for a road and improving conditions.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 51 points 2 days ago (3 children)

The stupidest part to me is that toll roads work this way and are wildly popular with conservatives. They're just angry it's a public thing and that it's for public transportation support and not to make some private company money.

Cars checks all the boxes to them - helps with segregation, creates demand for oil, multiple vectors for environmental destruction, weird nostalgia and culture war fodder, another subsidy for rural/suburban voters, and it's the embodiment of not giving a shit about anyone else's and being a big boy. But yeah each of the individual factors boils down to spite.

Fun Fact: The Roman Republic viewed regicide as a virtue. As I understand it, "he was trying to become king" was grounds for a justifiable homicide defense.
