I read a lot against Tuchel but I’m actually pleasantly surprised with him. He became a liability in his late months for PSG so I was concerned.
But he managed to convince Sané to play this left side playmaker role which is fantastic with Kane upfront and Davies pushing the left lane.
Coman on the right is a great asset as he makes so many runs to track back.
I’m a bit disappointed with Musiala but he is still a kid, I guess he played instead of Muller because we lack intensity in midfield. Muller is 34 and coming back from an injury so I’m not that surprised he is not risked.

[–] HighwayRobbery122@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

First half reminded me of playing vs city last season. If I speak I am in big trouble

[–] Quantum-Rabbit@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Personally I am OK with this performance given that it was away and the stadium was so annoying. The Garatasaray side was quite impressive offensively the first half pressing high. They got lucky and unlucky moments. But their defense was just atrocious and became too vulnerably when players used up their energy.

But Tuchel: what is wrong with you and Muller?

[–] 3xavi@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Müller not subbed for his ucl wins count sucks..

Dunno but seems like tuchel doesn't rate him, I feel he would have easily found a few good deep passes today

[–] insaneking101@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Ehh, save him for the league until KO rounds really. Group stage is in the bag and Müller can't be playing 40+ games a season anymore

[–] old-man-fucc-ur-pusy@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

He could’ve started in my opinion. They work real good with Musiala.

[–] Gertex@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

As much as Gala pressed and as well as they played, they really didn't have a sniff in the second half.

Love the way Laimer and Ulrich played. The two save's Ulrich had early were amazing.

The team showed heart and worked their tail off. Deserved terrorist style win!

[–] abks@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Even though the defense looked shaky as a whole, I thought De Ligt played very well. I feel much more confident when he is out there to command the defense.

[–] AnthonyTyrael@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Harry Kane 9 points outta the first the UCL games. Without further iverservstion, I guess he never achieved that before. Heck, maybe he barely had that as a total before. Especially not during the group stage facing us. :-D

[–] molym@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I don’t understand the hate towards the fans. Why would you want a silent stadium, fans are supposed to support their team lol.

[–] AFCW4ever@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Are there no interviews after the Game on Dazn?

[–] That-Leadership-2635@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

So was that a Tuchel's masterpiece? Like... i am asking honestly, as I am far too biased already towards him. In my eyes he played an underdog tactic that he used to play with his previous underdog teams and the icing was not even including Muller at all.

[–] noexcessbaggage@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Little to do with tactics, we got extremely lucky imo

[–] Impressive_Crow_5791@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

We got lucky today. They produced 3.08xG if they were more clinical we would have been in trouble.

Tuchel is frustrating there is no clear style of play, the players get to the final third and don't know what to do.

The midfield was slow and predictable the defense was quite shocking at times. Take the 3 points but lord I can't watch this team.

[–] Vexo14@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

If kerem akturkoglu had scored that goal maybe I would have slept happy as a gala fan

[–] Jack_All_Master_Most@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

DeLigt and Kim played amazing, would’ve got destroyed if not for them and Ulle.

At the same time I think we did miss Upa’s passing ability this game seeing as we were completely unable to beat the galatasaray press. Kimmich looked horrible party because he was receiving a lot of tough passes with opposition on his back, presumably because we were trying to rely on him to progress the ball when normally we rely on Upa.

If Tuchels plan was to weather the storm and win when they were tired, then fine it worked. But it’s a crime to not sub on Muller, especially when Musiala, Kimmich and Laimer are having stinkers.

Fortunate to come away with 3 points, but that ought to be the toughest game in the group stage for us, so cautiously optimistic in getting far in the UCL this year.

[–] SNAKE0789@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I was saying this earlier and keeping Musiala on was absolutely the correct call. He beat the press which lead to the first goal. He then scored and assisted to finish off the game.

Our guys were being put under a lot of pressure it only took Gala players getting half a step slower for us to break out and go forward.

Also helps that Laimer finally found his footing in the second half he looked like a deer infront of headlights in the first half.

[–] Jack_All_Master_Most@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Good point about Musialas performance, in the end you’re right he did have a big part in all 3 goals. Maybe just my frustration at Muller not getting minutes.

And yeah DAZN showed a distance covered graphic and it really showed how much better our conditioning is than the Gala players. Musiala, Kimmich, Laimer all more distance covered than all but one Gala player, and yet our guys looked much more up for it at the end of the match.

I really like Laimer’s effort level and willingness to do what needs to be done, at RB or CM. Just was a half step behind early in the game and suffered a few unlucky bounces. To be fair this was a nightmare game for a Center mid the way Galatasaray was pressing.

[–] The-Berzerker@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

You‘re optimistic about a deep CL run after we just barely managed to win against Galatasaray??? They had an xG of 3.07 or something, if you give away these kind of chances to better and more clinical teams like Man City they will demolish us. This was the worst CL performance I‘ve seen in a long time, how is this grounds for optimism?

[–] bayernPleb@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

This game is added to the underlying trend of bad performances this season, its actually worrisome

[–] nmgoesreddit@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Tuchel is basically Niko Kovac 2.0 with a UCL to his name. The fact that we went for a guy that has been dubbed Tuchelban still kills me, we really went for a guy that has been put in the same bracket as Simeone and Past his best Mourinho

Still can‘t believe we went from dominating Barca, Inter and PSG to struggling against Galatasaray and Kopenhagen

[–] Effective-Dot6460@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Tbh gala and kopenhagen are above average this year. Of course, still not even close to bayerns level, but they could easily fight big teams on their good days

[–] pole_fan@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

bayern looked tired. nobody was willing to run in the midfield. Also Kimmich single pivot looks kinda lost esp without Upamecano or Neuer to help him distribute the ball

[–] Nerellos@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

2nd half black magic by Tuchel.

[–] kp22cfc@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

A midfielder better be signed in Jan, it's like watching a huge void in middle ..

[–] AprilWatermelon@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The Gala madness was 50% fueled by the fans and the referee IMO, many questionable calls.

I'm most glad today when Sane is not on top form (still good but not top) the rest of the team weathered through 70 mins and pulled it off. Sane really could have ended it earlier with the Coman assist around '60.

Musiala/Daives/Laimer were overwhelmed and the most hurt by the ultra physical game but they all survived and earned the win.

I, too, wish Mueller would come on earlier to stabilize the situation but we had to do a ton of counter attack and quick break I can see why he wasn't called.

Lastly big shout out to Lord Sarr!

[–] The-Berzerker@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I hope this sub finally puts some fucking respect on Ulle‘s name, he‘s been saving our asses all season already with world class saves

Müller has to start the next game (I hope)

[–] tacobell_dumpz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

im telling you Tuchel is smoking expired bath salts

[–] redditForSoccer@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I supported Tuchel so far, but I have to admit I am fed up.

There is no way you watched the game, up to the 78th minute, and thought we would be worse off if we used our bench. The goals we scored were individual talent, not from chaining of passes. The passing was horrendous. For the first 70 or so minutes we camped in our own half against Galatasaray. The only reason we turned it around was because Galatasaray has older players that ran out of gas.

The way Tuchel treats his bench is beyond wasteful. He enjoys his super subs and once he finds them he sticks with them.

[–] fuzzygoosejuice@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

God our passing is so bad. There are flashes of individual brilliance, but long stretches of just outright garbage passing. Most baffling is the lack of improvement in our movement and passing. A couple of months to practice and play together and no improvement.

[–] BestSingedHawai@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Musiala got a lot of criticism. Right fully so. I get it.

But i honestly think his "poor decision-making" today was due to him thinking he has to win this game for us on his own. Which is understandable if you look at the performance and how we started this game. And you know, he did win us the game with an assist and a goal.

[–] xnxthemx@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

When they include the best fucking 9 in the world, the attack improves as fuck. There are tons of work to do but hey, we won.

[–] timothymr@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

There are so many talking points here but the first question I have:

  • What happened to Kimmich?

Like what's going on? Is he honing it in? Protesting because his manager got sacked and he's no longer the go-to for Tuchel? Unhappy that his mate was rumoured to be on the chopping block this summer?

I feel like his best years have been wasted which is a ridiculous thing to say considering what he has achieved but this guy should be a shout for the best midfielder in the world and he was there but something has happened this year where he has massively fallen off. Maybe that is a reactionary take but it's where I am.

Is he suffering from trying to do it all? He's taking on all this responsibility but fundamentally can't handle it without another quality midfielder protecting him.

As for him wearing the arm band, I get it's a largely empty symbol and it's more an administrative thing but tonight he wasn't good enough to wear the shirt let alone captain's armbands.

When there was all the talks of future captain and all that, the argument was "he's too hot headed" and it was always rebuffed with "so was Kahn, Effenberg, Van Bommel..." But now he doesn't strike me as the guy to rally the players and get them working in the way that De Ligt, Müller, shit even Goretzka does!

Maybe I'm just disappointed with the performance and his was notably frustrating. It's a frustration that stems from him being way off where he should be.

[–] OneBeerAndWhiskeyPls@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

its what i argued in the daily discussion earlier today

kimmich is killing his own game by a combination of ego, wanting too much and lack of discipline/smarts

he demands the ball in situations he cant get out of

he tries to chase in the midfield despite being too slow to do so

he goes from side to side trying to help, but then opponents are open in the center

its just bad play, somebody needs to show him the tape and tell him that less is more

[–] The-Berzerker@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

He doesn‘t have a choice because his midfield partner (either Goretzka or Laimer) is always completely invisible when we have possession and Kimmich has to do it on his own

[–] OneBeerAndWhiskeyPls@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

nah, i am done making excuses

how is another midfielder going to help kimmich, when he is running towards our own goal with an attacker on him

if your name is not messi or thiago just dont do it, even amateurs get taught this basic stuff

make a run to offer yourself, if your opponent bites, you get outta there

but he keeps running, gets the ball and then drawing a foul or a backpass are the only options

[–] prettybunbun@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

He simply doesn’t have a good partner in midfield anymore.

Despite what he insists Kimmich is not a 6. He is far far better as an 8. At the moment Laimer has been playing better at RB and Kimmich has had to hold the defensive line when he’s in midfield struggling. Goretzka roams waaaay too far forwards and so Kimmich has to drop back.

If we get Palhinia, genuinely Kimmich can go forward, where he is best.

[–] ace_alive@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I thought it was played clever and nobody cares how you win a group stage match, you just need to win it.

But I‘m not Bayern fan, just rooting for them in international matches cause my stepson is a fan and the match was on Prime.

I thought Bayern did well in that 130db atmosphere. I knew Gala would collapse if they didn‘t score and then Bayern waited until Gala was tired and delivered two knock down blows. Well done.

When the opposing fans leave their home stadium early, you have done everything right.

[–] kulkdaddy47@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Why do we never cross from the byline and take a chance? I wish whenever Davies overlaps he goes outside and crosses it. Instead he cuts inside every single time ! Sane had an ok game but he still isn’t that clinical 1v1 and when he’s running full speed he struggles to make a decision.

[–] GermanyWillWinQtarWC@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Some of this is copy and pasted from my comment at HT in the match thread but i didnt have time to finish my rant so

Every single big game under tuchel we have been subpar at BEST. Draws vs leverkusen and leipzig. Wins against copenhagen and united but i dont think any bayern fan was happy with those displays. Loss in the supercup vs leipzig. Loss in the cup last year vs freiburg, loss vs leipzig MD 33 last year, 3-0 loss and draw vs city. I know we are doing well in the league table. But unless we show in the remaining group stage games that we can actually play convincingly in big games, i wont back tuchel any longer. You could say its reactionary but crumbling under pressure is something we didnt struggle with under nagelsmann etc. We cant settle for just consistently beating bad teams with low pressure, e.g. beating mainz, freiburg etc.

Also a lot of our wins under tuchel have been won by 1 or 2 goal margins. Even under JN we built up an immense GD and consistently thrashed teams we should be thrashing. We have17 GD now iirc and 7 of that is from bochum. Its infuriating how we just relax after going a goal or 2 up, when a few years ago we wouldve kept going for more until we were 4 or 5 up. We relaxed against united and nearly got punished for it.

Tbh under tuchel we arent a team that strikes fear in opponents like gala and united like we were even last year. So many former players (most recently zlatan (iirc) and henry) have talked about how terrifying it was to come up against bayern, how we would press all game and play with such intensity for 90 minutes. Of course no one wanted to come up against that. Now we play gala and from the first whistle we let them set the tempo, control the play, we let them have the ball. Gala were able to settle into the game and play the way they wanted to. No one used to be able to do that to bayern. United was similar, they had most of the chances at the start, which immediately gives them reassurance and motivation that they can win.

Think back to even last season, going up against barca inter and psg. Even if we werent sure we would win those games, we knew for a fact how the game was going to go: we will control possession, set the tempo of the game, we will have most of the chances etc. And indeed we kept a clean sheet in all 6 of those matches. Those 3 teams all better than gala copenhagen and united btw. I really dont have the same confidence in the team particularly in big games as i did last season

[–] rotti5115@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

We won this game how we lost multiple in the year or so prior, being wasteful and conceded, it’s kinda refreshing to see the opposite site, but I don’t like it either

[–] fapp0r@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

FFS, except for Musiala, you goddamn assholes. Pass the ball to fucking Kane. Wtf is going on?

[–] jellonavel@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

All I want for Christmas is to see one fucking game where he starts Muller behind Kane, with Jamal on the left and Sane on the right. If it goes to shit you can all call me an idiot or whatever I don't give a fuck.

Now Anthony when you read this, I also have some arguments you can present on to the boss:

  1. Muller will help the whichever duo is playing behind him. He's always open and has eyes in the back of his head. He will shrink the distance between defenders and attackers immensely and therefore help the build up play.

  2. You get Sane back to the right. He's even more of a threat when has the possibility to cut in for a shot. He also would now have someone to play one twos with as Muller is next to him.

  3. Musiala gets more ball and can't be hugged by 5 opposition pressers as soon as he gets the ball. He'd also be playing with his BFF behind him, who likes to push forward keeping the attack wide so Jamal could also wander to more central position regularly.

  4. Kane would get more ball. We also know our old Harry likes to play them one twos and now he'd have his new golfing buddy who shares the interest and has the vision.

Muller is a leader and our lord of chemistry. It doesn't matter he can't go past a defender 1v1, there's Musiala and Sane right next to him. He's the glue and makes everyone around him play better.

[–] dklieber32@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I missed the game bar 15 minutes in the first half. Sounds like it wasn’t champagne football but thankfully got the win.

I wanted to know, how was the Kim DeLigt partnership? Sounds like Gala were all over us with a heavy press, and there was lack of support from the midfield (shocker)?

[–] kp22cfc@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

How many more games as evidence before the board actually sees that the midfield balance stinks and the team needs a 6

[–] El-Arairah@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

There are clearly other, far bigger problems than not having a holding six.
