He had an off night as the Warriors did a fantastic job contesting his shots, especially Wiggins getting right at his hands while he's bringing the ball up, also GP2 for swarming him. Wiggins/Kuminga/GP did a great job.

He had a mini flurry at the beginning of the 4th but I didn't even hear his name after that. Book took over the rest and closed it out.

We just dae playoffs KD. He shoots horribly when he gets nervous these days. Chucking up brick after brick. Suns aren't going to the finals.

Age concerns are overblown he's been moving like this since the achilles. He's had worse games on the nets

KD is a legend and I wish we had him 😭 so much reach, power and a great shot. He’s basically the upgraded versions of AD

It wasn't just KD. Steph was 8-20, Klay 6-18, CP3 4-15, Wiggins 4-12, Dario 3-11 and so on. Just one of those nights nobody could find the rim.

yup first game of the season rust

Don’t think it’s a trend yet. He rarely has inefficient nights like this but he does have them.

Was shocked he didn’t touch the ball in the last like 4 minutes

He needs to play off the ball more and shoot more 3s. He plays too slow and struggles with double teams. His midrange is amazing in the regular season until he starts getting pushed off his spots in the playoffs.

Just an off night, and he still managed to contribute quite a lot. 10 boards and a consistent presence at the rim on defense.

He was the same the series against us in the playoffs. Not sure why tbh.

Hw will be fine.

AG always plays him well. Even dating back to when KD was on the Thunder and AG was on the Magic

KD when 2 of his teammates aren't first options

[–] Cervicals@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He’s just getting old man. Luckily he still has more than enough in the tank for a title run or two and Book and Beal will be more than enough to pick up slack.

Book is clearly the #1 option and he honestly should be, seeing as he’s going into his prime

The age talk is funny he's moving the same as he did since he returned from the Achilles. He has had worse games than this as a net.

KDs handle has never been that great. It's primarily why the best defenders on him have been Wade, Allen, and such. They get low, throw him off balance, and don't let him step into shots by attacking his handle.

While he can shoot over anyone, he does so by getting to a spot while properly balanced and he likes to use a little pre-hop into the actual shot which those guys took away.

KD has lost a lot of athleticism that could overcome the poorer handle. That said, he's not washed at all. He'll likely continue to shoot his way back into another 50/40/90 season with no problems. It's just going to be more of an issue in the playoffs when teams are looking to hone in on that weakness.

He’s handles are objectively great, he’s the best handler ever for someone 6’10 and above. But I do agree he shouldn’t be a teams primary ball handled

This is just for discussion's sake, but that's Lamar Odom, no?

In his prime, dude was legit a PG in a PF's body, his handles and passing were unreal.

But agreed, KD's are very very good as well, especially for someone his size.

Wait are we saying Odom had a better handle than Durant?

We are going too far.

He just dominated the lakers (albeit a preseason game) on the same shot selection. I think he’ll be okay. Curry was almost as inefficient yet people don’t seem worried either. They’ll both bounce back

[–] NoWayNotThisAgain@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Lebron and CP3 have skewed peoples perceptions of what’s normal. 35 is old as fuck for an NBA player.

[–] RVAIsTheGreatest@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He will be fine. Particularly when Beal returns. Tonight with Beal just exposes limitations offensively nowadays in the fact his game is incredibly jumper oriented and he doesn't get all the way to the rim with a lot of consistency these days. I also agree with u/SirThixcksAlot that he's gonna need to take some of these 3's that he has created for it and be more willing to let it fly. That'll be an adjustment for him, as an off ball player, but it'll be for the benefit of the offense and himself in the end.

[–] thewrongnotes@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

In light of his declining athleticism, he needs to move the ball more.

To me he just takes too many terrible shots, even for a shooter as good as KD.
