Greetings,

I recently picked up a seiko SSB397P1 41mm. The watch is beautiful crafted and it’s elegant presence is stunning. However, I am not sure if this really fits my wrist. i have a relatively small wrist, and everything with 40+ mm on a watch wheels too big. I do have another watch which is 37mm. It might be because I am not used to the bigger dials?

What is your take on this size of a watch on my wrist? Do you think it fits good?

To all future “is this too big” people: if you have to ask, the answer is yes.

Just rock it.

It’s all how you feel! That said you have wrists like me and I think any watch bigger than 40 is too much so I love a 38.

. I also have small wrists. I am too self conscious to wear but it’s a nice watch. If you don’t care about it being “too big” that’s all you need to wear it

Great comment, thanks!

I fullt agree with you on you should wear it if you like it. I am definitely keeping the watch, but will probably use it as some occasions. It does not look too out of place

[–] ISuckAtWeightlifting@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nah, I mean it looks a little big but, but as long as you like the way it looks and feels it’s perfect 👌

[–] zrx74@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Photo yes, too big but that angle always seems to make watches seem bigger. Just look in the mirror with hand in pocket or in front of your chest and see how it looks. If it’s too big, try the solar speedtimers, they’re great and you find them discounted. Thing is you have to be happy, too big or too small, it’s just you that needs to be satisfied. Ppl don’t care.

Very true, thank you for your comment.

I am still trying to orientate myself around different watch sizes and see what I like.

[–] apiratelooksatthirty@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

In my opinion, yes. But if you like it, wear it!

Yeah it’s a little big for your wrist in my opinion, but if that’s okay with you, wear it.

It looks great nonetheless!

[–] Vegetable-Ad-9324@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Appreciate it!

Yes 41mm might be a bit big, but I do enjoy the watch and will probably wear it at some occasions

I think it looks pretty good. It is on the bigger side but for me the lugs seem to form well around your wrist.

[–] Vegetable-Ad-9324@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Thank you for your comment!

Yes the lugs fit very good, just the dial’s size which is big. But thats fine!

[–] Manuag_86@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The watch looks big, but the lugs are quite close to the case and they don't fly on your wrist, so I don't see anything wrong with it.

It’s too big for me. I wouldn’t wear a watch that fits that way on my wrist. That is my preference. As an example, this submariner feels way too big for me and I prefer how my datejust 36 fits instead. Others would say it’s perfect

I like a bit of visible wrist after the lugs. It the lugs reach the end of my wrist or (god forbid) extend beyond, easy no for me. I think this one borderline works, the watch is hanging a bit to the outside in the photo, if you centered it on the wrist I imagine it would look better.

It is on the bigger side, but do you feel comfortable wearing it? That’s all that really matters.

[–] waterbirdist@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It's interesting that so far, every time I've seen anyone ask this question, the answer is clearly "yes".

Looks fine 👌

I have skinny wrists as well but I prefer an "oversized" watch.

If you like it and it feels right then have at'er.

[–] hodinke@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I say no, but it wears big. 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–] Admirable_Pie_6609@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Imo yes. But it’s a personal taste thing

[–] FarookWu@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Most of the time when I see these posts, the watch is okay (doesn't look "too big"). This time, maybe / probably.

From the view angle, which hides part of your wrist in shade (towards the bottom of the photo), it does look like it's possibly too big.

But, two things: the view angle, as others have mentioned, and the question "Do you like it?" If the answer is "Yeah, I'm really grooving on it!", then the watch is fine. If you are lukewarm, or feel like "crap, what is this gigantor thing on my arm?", you have your answer.

Good luck, either way, and nice watch BTW!

[–] cantbanthepoolgator@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yes, but that in and of itself is a certain style that can be pulled off. Just have the self confidence to match the size of the watch, and you are good.

[–] CaineLau@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

not on my watch ... i don t see any problem here :)

[–] Vegetable-Ad-9324@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Haha cheers!

[–] Chris_Golz@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I think it’s just about right.

[–] Netopalas@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, it's too big for your wrist. However, that is the current fashion. Wear what you like.

[–] ossegossen@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I would wear something smaller if I were you

[–] Max_Mize@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

What's your wrist size?

[–] dyonstadd1@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If it feels comfortable. It fits.

[–] sadbot0001@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
[–] mikeap8@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yes but still looks good

[–] Lucky-Macaroon4958@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I personally think it is too big but if you like it then that's what matters

[–] karmaticulous@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yes, the general rule I go by is if the lugs are at the end of your wrist it’s pushing it. If they’re over, I wouldn’t even bother. But again, it’s what you like that matters.

[–] Mr_Stevie@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

when you get a new watch you feel like the whole world is looking at you/your wrist and wonder about these things when in reality 99.99% people out there simply say "oh, a watch" unless it is a rolex. and for the .01% of people that appreciate watches, they would say "nice seiko!". i think it looks fine. nice watch!

[–] Yrunez@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I don’t ever remember thinking “that watch is too big for their wrist”. Only “That watch is huge.” Big watches are a thing, only a snob is going to unsolicited tell you to go smaller. If you can’t wear it and love it bc this is a question in your mind then sell it. Even if we should care what people think, if that is where we are at, then that is where we are today.

[–] Puzzled-Funny-3304@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

it all depends on how you feel! it looks great.
