I love my 600's but when I need something more exciting it's my Monolith M1570's.

Kennerton GH50; closed back, wide soundstage, dark tonality

Not everyone loves these. I hate the HD600 series. To my ears, they are dry and lifeless. Don’t assume they represent the panacea of what makes headphones good. It’s a highly subjective field with no opposite because everyone prefers something different.
But the vast majority of people really like them
Yup. They're very good. Not lifeless at all imo, just small sound stage. Very intimate.
Show me that data I don’t believe it.
Emu Teaks , TX/TR-00 for similar price
The Fostex have a wide soundstage and huge bass(though there semi open)
ATH-W5000, I have never seen a headphone so polarising as them. Got a massive soundstage, closed back, made from wood and magnesium and a sound signature that is... coloured? It's not one easily liked, and unlike the HD600 which is considered an amazing deal, the W5000 was TOTL price for a headphone with rather mid fi technicalities
Grado SR 80
Audeze Lcd 2c
Maybe Modhouse Argons? Edit: Someone beat me to it.
Grados. Not neutral, not objective, out-of-head staging, moddable, not durable, not popular, not corporate, made in a brownstone basement and will never be loved by everyone. Suffice to say, many of the influencers who hail the HD600 as the “perfect” headphone hate Grados and even scoff at their mere existence. I’ve even heard “not real headphones”, “causes hearing loss”, and (from a major YouTuber) “only a starting kit”. The entire concept of a Grado is the polar opposite of everything the HD600 tried to achieve.
Basically scoop out the mids, boost bass below 100 hz to the skies, and throw in treble spikes to offset any opinion if smoothness. The worst variation of this idea I heard is Ultrasone, makes Beyerdynamic sound comparatively mellow. Westone also can sound like this, with a specific suck out right where HD600 has its upper mid presence spike.
Who is "everyone"?
I can't stand the HD600 beyond half a song, nevermind an album.
I should not have read this thread when I'm just about the buy the hd600...
