They didn't even understand the source material.

Like, when he pulls the holy hand grenade... There are VERY SPECIFIC instructions on how to use that thing. Doesn't follow them.

Just superficial references with no comprehension of the source

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I mean, the source material was kinda trash to start with.

People beefing with Holy Grail now? Fuck I'm a relic.

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

No, I was talking about Ready Player One the book.

I would never disrespect the Grail.

That is one of my favorite jabs, the technically correct, but non-sensical.

It's a fair cop.

Deadpool vs Wolverine. If fan service was a movie.

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 17 points 2 weeks ago

thats what it was billed as and its what deadpool is, not sure why some people use that as a negative for the film

[–] MeatPilot@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Agreed, didn't make it through the opening scene before I went "Yup this wasn't made for me click"

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world -1 points 2 weeks ago

I watched it high as fuck and I was so confused. I assumed I was just way too high so I watched it sober and nope it's just a jumbled mess.

[–] steeznson@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I was dragged to see this and was extremely confused because the last marvel film I saw was Revenge of Ultron

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 2 points 2 weeks ago

i saw iron man 3 before any other marvel film πŸ˜‚

This film was referencing it's own world too much it felt like sitting with a self-absorbed prick for a more than a couple of beers!

No, it's about Wolverine and Deadpool stabbing each other in the dicks.

Smh people these days can't interpret anything.

Spiderman no way home. Everyone was raving about it, when I finally got around to watching it, it turned out to be high-budget fanfiction.

[–] Alabaster_Mango@lemmy.ca 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Aren't all adaptations "high-budget fanfiction" though? Like, what about the film makes it more fanfictiony compared to other comic or book adaptations?

[–] simple@lemm.ee 8 points 2 weeks ago

sure, but it was fanfiction in the sense that the whole story is centered around fan service. It was mostly "hey, that character you like is back!" and "oh my god, the villain people like made an appearance for 3 minutes!". It didn't feel like its own movie, just a collection of "give the fans what they want" scenes.

Backdoor sluts 9. One through 8 are social commentary, but 9, 9 is this.

[–] moody@lemmings.world 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Backdoor Sluts 9 makes Backdoor Sluts 8 look like Backdoor Sluts 7

[–] BreadOven@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Couldn't agree more.

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Oh good, its the same tired joke again.

[–] lordnikon@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Ghostbusters afterlife and frozen empire, every star trek show since enterprise, every star wars since return of the Jedi.

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

All the Jurrasic World movies too.

[–] lordnikon@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Fellowship of the Ring

To clarify. I love the movie, but I also can't escape the fact that like 90% of it became memed like crazy.

[–] DannyBoy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago

Watched it for the first time a few weeks ago and it was like 50% meme scenes.

[–] Val@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 weeks ago

Revenge of the Sith

[–] klu9@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 weeks ago

Wonder Woman. Every trite moral lesson from all 7 seasons of Star Trek: TNG crammed into one movie.

[–] Contemporarium@lemm.ee 0 points 2 weeks ago

Seems like pretty much any marvel slop past the first few decent movies is just 90 minutes of β€œOMFG REFERENCE?! KIND SIR I WISH I COULD UPDOOT THIS MOVIE TWICE!!!” lol
