A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

I am trying to figure out ways to get that view at sports games and such for the yearbook. During football our staff members only got "worms eye" and regular view shots. But I was wondering how I would get the view during football/soccer/baseball/etc games without disrupting play?

really long mono pod, ladder, drone or a setup that is secured above the field somehow and that u can trigger the shutter with a remote.

basketball game wise it’s a little easier as there’s many things u can secure a camera too. but u have to get permission first and test things out during a practice.

otherwise if it’s outside… realistically it’s a drone… just be sure not to fly too low cuz u don’t want to disturb the game and get kicked out or ejected.

Drone or ladder

Many places will have a crow's nest or some other elevated booth for the announcers. I've been able to use the top of the stairs at some places without disrupting the coaches or play-by-play guys in the booth. If you want to go higher than that you'll need a lift and minimal wind.

Crane or drone

You can not fly a drone directly over the event. You will need to be off, away from people. In most locations that can be difficult. Consider a GoPro on a pole from your press box. Another option is to position yourself in an elevated position and do a stitched pano. If you know what you are doing, you get a decent stitched image handheld.
