Welcome!

Can you imagine, years ago how the internet was before? We know Facebook, Twitter, Tiktok, Youtube. We knew blogger, Tumblr, Skyrock... and long before, it was the forum era as phpBB..and mail-lists.

And now with ActivityPub, we are reshaping the web, and achieving much more with lots of freedom. So thank you all, and welcome 🀟😁

The rate of increase has been absolutely wild in the past few months! Reddit banning people at the drop of a hat has been a massive boon. All those peeps would never have given lemmy a try unless they had no other choice.

Real, I came to lemmy because of being shadow banned after being active in r/buyfromeu for about a week (literally just got top 1% commenter right before I was shadowbanned)

I actually dislike how the name is different here but I do follow that in addition to: !buyfromeu@feddit.org !BuyFromEU@lemm.ee !BuyFromEU@europe.pub

And if you want to regroup them, you can try PieFed.

Mind there is no mobile app yet (pferd (a thunder fork) and interstellar will support PieFed) It is catching up steadly and offer some nice features. :)

I haven't had issues with seeing double posts tbh

[–] Snoopy@piefed.social 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

That's not only about double posts but duplicate communities on the same topic and being able to see all comments on the same page. That's also creating your own timeline by organising communities the way you want. There is also tags. :)

You may even try mbin so you can reach mastodon users and follow accounts on news, topics...PieFed will be able to do it later.

I'm inviting you to try those 3 softwares. Unlike Reddit with its golden cage, you are free to move and test them. You can export your subcriptions and import them. :)

Welcome. Hopefully you'll keep at it :)

Welcome to Lemmy! Post, comment, interact! Help make Lemmy a more active place for all sorts of content!

[–] Kualdir@feddit.nl 3 points 1 year ago

That is what I am doing ;)

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 1 year ago

Definitely, let's go for 60k!

57,253 now that April 1st has been counted. Not as big a gain today as some recent days, but still gaining.

But I think that includes the loss of mander.xyz, you can see the drop in the number of online servers, so that's actually impressive that we still grew even with mander offline, hopefully they come back.

Looks like mander was at 188 MAU. https://lemmy.fediverse.observer/mander.xyz

EDIT: mander.xyz is back online

[–] BlastboomStrice@mander.xyz 14 points 1 year ago

We are so back!

[–] wit@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Why is mander offline btw? Is it temporary?

[–] Die4Ever@retrolemmy.com 8 points 1 year ago (2 children)
[–] wit@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They seem down to me still?

[–] Die4Ever@retrolemmy.com 1 points 1 year ago

They were online earlier, they'll probably be back

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I really hope they come back, some great communities hosted on there and they had some fantastic users.

[–] Die4Ever@retrolemmy.com 7 points 1 year ago

They're back online now

[–] MeatPilot@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago
[–] CheeseToastie@lazysoci.al 5 points 1 year ago

I'm one of them! You're welcome.

"Axes do not start at 0"

Wot?

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Literally what is says, the Y axis starts at 40k for instance

[–] Monstrosity@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

Oh, "Axis". Got it.

EDIT: Axes, it turns out, is plural for axis. TIL

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

"Axis" and "axes" (plural of axe) are homophones, but are not homographs.

English is a clusterfuck.

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 year ago

plural axes

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/axis

The term axes is used when referring to more than one axis in a multidimensional space, such as in a graph or geometric figure.

I'm thinking why not doing a monthly stats repport on most fediverse software ? I would like something like that if you don't mind 😊

I think piefed is reaching 1k subcribed users and 370 MAU. Nice numbers :)

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I was mostly thinking about reporting every 1k for Lemmy..

For Piefed, it could be very hundred. Piefed has a nice curve, so hopefully it will reach 400 MAU soon.

[–] Snoopy@piefed.social 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah because i fell other verse software were left down. As mbin and piefed, and it's all about fediverse. :)

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Let's keep an eye on Mbin, once they reach 1000 MAU, I'll make a post about them too https://mbin.fediverse.observer/dailystats

[–] Snoopy@piefed.social 1 points 1 year ago

They progress rapidily :)
