A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

Hello all!
I'm in a new situation and thought to ask some help as a reference. I'm a concert photographer and a band I just shot a concert for asked how much would I charge in order for them to use one of those photos in order to print some shirts.
Some quick facts to help with the perspective:
- I'm not a full time pro by no means, mostly I shoot for a publications (for free) and now I'm trying to work more with bands, usually they just want (and pay) for the use of photos in social media, but not the copyrights like in this case.
- They're a relatively small band, so we're not talking huge budgets or major labels or anything like that.
- I don't know how many they would print (if that even matters) or what kind of profit they are looking to make. I told them a one time payment for the copyright to use the photo for merch and that I'd get back with an estimate.
- They have already paid me for the gig and (low res) photos to use on social media.
Thanks for all the help in advance! The business side of this is very new to me.

Likely somewhere between $200 and $400 on a year or two contract

Most bands are just looking to cover their touring expenses, studio time and maybe gear, hardly any really make a true profit. Most bands would just liketo be able to keep

If it's a local band, it's likely not going to be much. You can ask them what their budget is to start, but I'm guessing a couple hundred at most. I also know these local bands don't make a heck of a lot so I've let these kinds of shots go for a nominal fee like $100 or so. I have a day job so not like I need the money and I like supporting the local bands.
