The authors of the Constitution separated powers for a reason.

You misspelled “kisses the ass of the dictator”.
Kind of feels like all three branches have done that. Congress isn't holding the executive or the courts to account, the court is splitting the power transfer with the executive branch to avoid being made outright irrelevant, and the executive branch is acting like a monarchy.
The system was invented to profit from enslaving people. They're still doing their "best".
Boy it's a good thing Trump isn't wiping his ass with the constitution then, huh?
Give me a fucking break. The constitution is worthless if it gets ignored and nobody does anything about it.
Yep the system was built on good faith and the idea that at least one of these branches would do better.
If I were to rebuild the system I'd probably push greater power to state legislatures and the people of the state over their congressional representatives. For example say a 2/3rds majority of a state senate can recall a congressman and trigger reelection. Then every state should also have a way for the people directly to trigger recall elections.
Elections for the house and senate also need to occur yearly or every other year. Imagine if 1/4th of senate seats were elected every year.
We need to expand congress. 2 senators per state was for when the US had way less people. Why not bump it up to 3? The house of Representatives could also use another 100+ seats added.
Finally put term limits on the Supreme Court and introduce ranked choice voting.
A parliamentary system is superior in just about every way.
Shh, don't say the P-word. Call it proportional representation. Anything that sounds too British is almost certainly doomed.
The constitution is worthless because it's an outdated pact between literal slavers.
Reminds me of that Yogi Berra quote: "In theory, theory and practice are the same thing. In practice, they're not."
Bit early for takes like that, no? Americans still have the whole dictatorship ahead of them, we’re currently seeing it being established.
the article is about how dictatorships are a worse form of government than republics. It means that dictatorships fail because they creates poorer and worse countries. not that they fails because they are not able to maintain themselves
When the separated powers are all stacked by the same side it is why a dictatorship could succeed.
There must be more immediate consequences for anyone who seeks to sidestep its purpose.
Pretty sure the people who wrote the constitution inspired the nazis.
the system created by that first Constitutional Congress has comprehensively failed.
