Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

100% and it will be worse.

Covid was a glimpse.

I had coworkers who left small towns because they were Asian. Imagine being Filipino and having racists shout Chinaflu at you. Every single Asian person I met has a story.

I also had a friend disown their parents because they harassed a Thai family all during covid, calling them child smugglers. I've met these people, and they were perfectly wonderful 15 years ago. Just oblivious racists.

They already have internment camps. They'll just build more.

Under the current regime, very likely

[–] Epialtes@lemm.ee 11 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Probably high.

Of course most people would be shocked at even the idea. But given time, paranoia, stress,… they would end up finding it necessary

War cause extreme polarization. Extreme polarization turn the nicest purest man into a sociopathic monster.

There's no "people" involved in that decision. There's Trump. If he cared about public opinion he wouldn't be half as destructive as he is.

You want to talk about concentration camps? We're already expanding our own Black Site.

America has the highest incarceration rate in the world. The average maximum security prison holds 800-1200 prisoners. The largest, Angola, LA, holds over 8000.

Our most famous black site, Guantanamo Bay, located in CUBA (WTF?), currently holds about 120. They are now building a facility there, that will hold 30,000 prisoners. That's nearly 4 times our largest prison, which is already about 8 times larger than average.

The question is: Who do they intend to put in that new facility, which is far from any oversight by the media or the courts. It's in fucking Cuba, which is controlled by...well, you get it.

I was a victim of the recent Reddit bloodbath, with a 12 year/ 900K+ karma account. Clearly, they reviewed my high-volume posting account, and they know how I feel about them, and the punishments they have earned. I expect that at some point, there is a pretty good chance I'll be getting a free vacation to Cuba.

They'll be looking for any excuse to throw people in there. In a war with China, theyll go right to the top.

Right there with you bud. Constantly on edge about when they will decide to abduct my wife at work or while shopping. It's a good thing I made peace with my near term death a long time ago, or this might be stressful.

Ive been warning my family and friends that at my age, I've got nothing to lose, and if the government were to do something to my son (who fits a few vulnerable groups), i would become a very dangerous man. And my danger wouldn't be random, or aimed at innocent civilians, it would be tightly targeted.

[–] dickalan@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago

Bless up. I hope it never comes to that, but you have my full support if it does

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 101 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Less likely than EVERYONE who looks Asian ending up in camps.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 77 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Under the current administration? 100%.

[–] CameronDev@programming.dev 38 points 1 day ago

Theres a 50-50 chance they end up in internment camps without any war breaking out...

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemm.ee 1 points 19 hours ago

I have a feeling that no matter who is in charge, we'll either see that or a large emphasis put on keeping tabs on them. Either way, it would be a nasty situation for everyone involved.

We're already well-started down this path with brown people that we aren't at war with. The group of undesirables must constantly expand under fascist rule. To answer you succinctly: incredibly likely, perhaps even a near certainty

All Americans & all people in or attempting to enter America are in danger of being disappeared now.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Buy guns and form support networks with neighbors

[–] Bonus@lemm.ee 2 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

Form a well-regulated militia. It's what they've been telling us to do.

The Founding generation understood that large standing armies were dangerous threats to liberty, especially when controlled by authoritarian governments who sought to disarm the general population.

Hell, trans people staying in the US are in danger of being disappeared now.

[–] shani66@ani.social 19 points 1 day ago

Guaranteed, and that's without your hypothetical war. Currently it's just a matter of time.

Depends on how hard it is to set the camps on fire and how much they're hidden from the local population. In a better timeliness.

In this timeline, it would probably occur in a number of the states but I do like to hope some would resist.

[–] xorollo@leminal.space 1 points 1 day ago

I mean Louisiana has received several people in their prisons. Seems like effective infrastructure.

Nobody else is commenting on it but we know for a fact that China's government is operating illegal "police stations" inside the United States and Canada, to regulate the behavior of Chinese people inside our countries. Yes, there will be Chinese internment camps and these Chinese agents operating inside out countries will be the start of those camps. They will be real enemies among us. The question is just if our governments will stop at those real enemies or if it'll expand beyond what's just.

[–] starlinguk@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

Yup, they're running those everywhere. Exhibit A.

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems 9 points 1 day ago

It's not even a question when we're literally fighting for due process.

[–] lord_ryvan@ttrpg.network 2 points 1 day ago (3 children)

China's government is operating illegal "police stations" inside the United States and Canada

That'd be pretty big if it's true, how come nobody seems to know about this?

Do you have any good sources on this?

[–] 52fighters@lemmy.sdf.org 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I thought this was common knowledge. Here's one about the US. If you look, you can easily find one about Canada or other countries.

https://www.boston.com/news/local-news/2025/02/10/boston-man-found-not-guilty-of-being-a-chinese-agent/ that's the first "Chinese spy" in that Hill article

During COVID China let people do government paperwork in an app instead of the embassy, and let local businesses sign up to help old or poor people with the app. The FBI decided to call that "police stations" and went after guys who owned a restaurant and set up an iPad for people to use and scared the shit out of them. They hadn't done anything yet, but if the FBI scared them enough to lie or delete the app, now there's a process crime and they're fucked. There was nothing actually happening, like all the teenage autistic terrorists the FBI makes up and pretends to catch. Same with the other countries the panic spread to:
