I was an only child so I had to do both.

If the first child is intelligent and a competent designer, then the second child will be safe. There are no issues here. Just 2 children who trust each other.

My sister told me I could fly after watching Peter Pan. I could not fly.

Sounds like you didn't believe you could fly.

They believed they could fly, and they touched the sky.

Unfortunately they then touched the ground and the ground touched back

[–] swab148@lemm.ee 7 points 1 month ago

The trick is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss

It's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop at the end.

The best way to teach gradients, explain the acceleration gradient across their mass as they hit the ground

If you ever think you can fly: start from the ground.

Good advice for children and drunk people.

i always take off from the ground in flying dreams. It’s like jump…jump… Whoah!

[–] ramble81@lemm.ee 12 points 1 month ago

If … that word carries a lot of weight with random children’s ideas

Intelligent and competent designers fail A LOT, but they keep trying to find a way to fail the least

"If not duffers, won't drown. If duffers, better drowned."

competent designer

It's a child. How competent can a child be?

[–] GorGor@startrek.website 38 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I was the younger brother. I was "willing" to do a lot of things I knew were bad ideas.

[–] TexasDrunk@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

My younger brother tried out all of my inventions. He was "willing", which really meant he never knew what I was asking him to do until it was too late.

[–] GorGor@startrek.website 12 points 1 month ago

I definitely remember hearing "Here put this helmet and [thick] jacket on"... "Stay there and wait" etc
