I thought it was fun they actually managed to hit that entire chain of events in Raimi's Spider-Man 2. Doc Ock makes a deal with Harry in exchange for capturing Spidey and the first thing Harry does is go "target Peter Parker immediately". So Ock goes and for some reason instead of ripping limbs off Peter until he tells him the truth he kidnaps MJ.
He doesn't even let her go (or even kill her) after he actually succeeds, for some reason. Which honestly I had never thought about. Why is he keeping her hanging from the ceiling of his secret lab? What was the plan there?

honestly if i were spiderman i don't think i would have it in me to do anything even remotely related to spiders in my off-time, it'd just feel like tempting fate
that, or go all in on it for the "no no, that's too obvious, it can't be them" factor: have 5 pet tarantulas, be a web designer, network engineer, tie fishing nets as a hobby, etc etc..

My favourite was the first appearance of sandman, Peter forgot to get shots of the fight so he just starts tossing sand in the air and pretending to fight it, Jonah is like “great shots” lol
I think JJJ would've paid Peter more if he arranged for pictures that made Spider-Man look more creepy and morally questionable. JJJ probably feels suspicious of all those "heroic" angles.
