It must be embarrassing to be American.

[–] littlewonder@lemmy.world 13 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

It's the worst. Even on the state level. People in the state I'm from used to have a positive stereotype about them, so that I felt good about sharing where I grew up in conversation.

That state turned red and they've been legislating against anyone who isn't a white, straight, rich person. If people find out where I'm from, I have to do extra work to make sure people don't assume I'm a hateful idiot.

So that's what it's like, but on the international level now. I wish I had dual citizenship so I could at least travel internationally with a different passport (or relocate altogether). I know Americans have had a reputation of being rude or entitled abroad, but that's far better than people assuming I'm a Trump-loving, delusional, fascist.

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 17 points 19 hours ago

It's way past that now.

[–] puddinghelmet@feddit.nl 7 points 17 hours ago

Lol, are you referencing KGs remarks in Australia, by chance...?

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 5 points 13 hours ago

WTF, disgusting.

[–] endeavor@sopuli.xyz 2 points 11 hours ago

He should take inspiration the one thing all popes have done and do it right this moment.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 29 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Trump, that's not how it works.

Just because you ordered Vance to assassinate that old man doesn't mean you're the Pope. Vance, as his slayer, is the Pope now, so you have to kill Vance.

[–] nomy@lemmy.zip 2 points 13 hours ago

There can be only one!

[–] Sgt_choke_n_stroke@lemmy.world 4 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

He can't be pope......... He touches women, not kids

[–] ShankShill@sh.itjust.works 11 points 14 hours ago

[–] yourgodlucifer@sh.itjust.works 5 points 13 hours ago

[–] goldenquetzal@lemmy.world 43 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He's distracting from the fact that he called for all Democrats to be removed from Congress. It's a smokescreen bc of how ludicrous it is.

What did it say that the president of the USA is non-stop pulling attention seeking stunts like your crazy aunt on Facebook? Guess it must be lonely being surrounded by sycophants.

[–] lenuup@reddthat.com 16 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (2 children)

Nah, he is just ~~gaslighting~~ overwhelming everyone. Tons of insane and insulting shit to occupy the media and people, so that he can pull all the stunts he he wants. Drowning everything in noise so that no one knows what to focus on anymore.

Don't get me wrong, he is batshit insane bud there is a certain method to his madness.

Edit: Looks like I was using 'gaslighting' incorrectly.

[–] cynar@lemmy.world 8 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

It's a terrifying mix of a Gish gallop (a stampede of lies and half truths, delivered so fast they can't be countered) and razzle dazzle (camouflage via a swarm of irrelevant or counter intuitive points).

It's terrifyingly effective, and very difficult to counter.

[–] Pelicanen@sopuli.xyz 4 points 17 hours ago

Would be much easier to counter if there was a functional system of checks and balances or a well-educated population that'd hold their leaders accountable, but here we are.

Trump has said that although he was “confirmed at a Presbyterian church as a child, I now consider myself to be a non-denominational Christian.”

Uhhhh....he's not even Catholic? That's kinda a prerequisite for THE LEADER OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH!

He's completely trolling, right? I mean it's gotta be cover for something happening that he wants to distract people from. He can't be that stupid that to think he can actually be Pope......can he?

[–] captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works 21 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

I don't think he's trolling, I think he's just that stupid.

[–] ArchmageAzor@lemmy.world 5 points 19 hours ago

He's wholly incapable of understanding that the things he says or believes can be false. "If I said it/believe it, it must be true."

[–] clutchtwopointzero@lemmy.world 7 points 21 hours ago

I guess he was thinking covfefe while telling the social media specialist to post it

[–] i_dont_want_to@lemmy.blahaj.zone 28 points 23 hours ago

He's no stranger to becoming leader of something while having no idea how it works.

[–] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 4 points 21 hours ago

IDK, what he said about his daughter and knowing Jeffey Epstein are some solid credentials.

Im not religious anymore…

…but the Bible literally predicted this.

[–] Nangijala@feddit.dk 4 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

The Bible is more of less a study in human error and human potential. Of course they have caught on to the concept of narcissistic idiots in power being a bad thing. I'm sure there were plenty of those back in the day and plenty who were far worse than trump.

Hell, we have leaders right now in the world who are worse than trump and they have all been in power for decades. The biggest difference is that most of them are smarter and more cunning than trump, who is an 80 year old toddler that wants attention all the time.

As a former Christian, It's been SO hard keeping my non-faith while actively living at the same time as the Anti-Christ.

If Obama had made a stupid meme dressed as the pope, "Christians" would have burned the White House to the ground, it would have literally started a war. Its absolutely INSANE to me how much this man gets away with. He's right, you really can do anything when you're rich.

Also, not news in my opinion. Sorry.

[–] quetzaldilla@lemmy.world 12 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

Exactly.

It's all meant to make people outraged and distracted, and we all keep falling for it.

Please let's not entertain completely absurd shit like that.

Imagine every time your boomer aunt posted that same shit Trump does on her Facebook it ended up in the news-- it's clearly delusional and giving it attention gives it validity even if it is only criticisms.

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

Yep and they've already moved onto Trump as sithlord for May 4th. This just isn't news. They're little Internet creeps and they intend to stay that way. People need to stop caring about what "memes" the "official Whitehouse account" posts.

Edit: Ask yourselves, is it really news that this guy typed a sentence into an AI image generator?
