Ben is a forsure hall of famer and should be a first ballot. I would take Rivers over Ryan, but I understand on paper Ryan has a Super Bowl appearance and an mvp but if you ask me who was a better QB I would take Rivers over Ryan.
NFL
A place for NFL news, game highlights and everything that excites you about American Football.
Eli isn't even close to being a HOFer. His stats are atrocious. Be serious.
Same for Rivers.
Here’s my prediction:
Ben and Eli will get in, but they will not be first-ballot.
Rodgers and Brady are 100% first-ballot locks.
Rivers and Ryan won’t get in.
Not even a hard question tbh. Ben makes it, the other 2 don't.
Oddly enough I think Ben gets in because he had the best traits of Ryan and Rivers. He could put the ball in the tightest windows like Matt in his prime but also had more willingness to take risks like Rivers. He would air it out and give his playmakers a chance.
For me the most frustrating thing about Matt is when he got in his own head and wouldn’t force the Ball to Julio when he was in the end zone. The guy was so dominant but Ryan was too timid.
Rivers was a gunslinger. High risk high reward. He had awesome weapons in his career. I think his downfall was he was always in a really tough division for the best years of his career
They’ll cut it off at Matt Ryan and Phillip rivers. Big Ben makes it
The line is somewhere around Matt Ryan and Phllip Rivers, being "the franchise QB" for 10+ years doesn't get you in anymore. I would say probably just south of Matthew Stafford levels of success.
Matt Ryan is not a famous nor elite player at the position of Quarterback.
I’d say whenever he retires, Mahomes is also a sure-fire HoF, he has 2 SB, 2 SB MVPs and 2 regular seasons MVP…he is 100% already in
Ben shouldn’t make it in
Philip rivers is the line. I wouldn’t be upset if he gets in but anyone beneath him does not belong I’m
I cant express how mad I'm going to be when Kirk Cousins gets inducted.
For what it's worth, he seems to be a great guy off the field, I just don't think he belongs anywhere near the hall of fame and I have a bad feeling he'll get in without having to wait very long. They really need a standard tho, I think Matt Ryan is a decent place to start from.
Phil Rivers is the Kerry Collins of 60,000 yard passers
I think only Ben gets in, Matt Ryan only had 1 above good year, Phillip rivers had none
Ben does super bowls speak loud imo. Matt Ryan needs a sub-par inductee class to get I feel like and rivers doesn’t deserve it. You can’t be in the hall of fame if you aren’t even a conference champion…
Rivers, Ryan, and Stafford all feel like they shouldn't get in...
A player has to be elite among their positional peers. Yardage, completions even in the face of a losing team matters. All Pro years and MVP awards along If I had to put them in order…1) Ben, 2) Matt Ryan, 3) Phillip Rivers. None of them are 1st ballot. It might take 5-6 ballots for each of them given some of the names coming up…
Are we sure about Brady?
Ben will probably get in at some point (idk how long it'll take tho)
Ryan could get in after a long wait. I don't see rivers ever making it
Ben, Rivers, Eli, Matt Ryan will all get in.
Ben, Eli & Rivers will be first ballot.
Matt Ryan will probably take a couple, but wouldn’t be surprised if he makes it in first cut.
Not sure how hot or cold of a take this is but all 3 are getting in
If we exclude off the field controversy, then Ben is a first ballot HOFer.
I don't think Rivers or Ryan deserve it. We have a league now that caters to the passing game, they are not anywhere near what Dan Fouts or Marino or Moon or even Ken Anderson had to go through to put up big statistical years.
I'm not to fall on my sword for the guy...I'm not going to blow a gasket if he never gets in...but Eli absolutely should go in over Rivers or Ryan. If Eli only won one, only has one conference championship road win, sure. Exclude. But the biggest moments trump the juicy QB friendly stats of the modern era.
Matthew Stafford, undecided, not wrapped up in him, but he should get in over Rivers and Ryan.
There is no chance Rivers or Ryan get in, not to take anything away from them. Without a single Super Bowl they’d need to have been not just good but clearly elite for five or more years.
Ben should be in. Rivers borderline. Matty Ice no.
I think Rivers is the cutoff. I think he’s as good as you can be without making the HoF. Or at least he should be.
Phillip Rivers is NOT even in the HOF conversation. It's laughable. He didn't do shit.
Ben, Rivers and Matt all get in. May not be first ballot but they will eventually
I have Big Ben way ahead of Rivers and Ryan.
Even throwing away all stats, he's the only one of those guys who was ever a scary opponent in a meaningful game
Being honest none of them should get in...neither 3 was ever the best qb
Big Ben gets in. Ryan and Rivers don't. Neither won a Superbowl. Plus they combined for ZERO rape accusations.
Ben gets in easily. The other two do not.
Ben is a lock. The only reason his PFF monitor score is low is because he never got individual recognition during his career because of the era he played. He was right there with the best QBs of his era, took his team to three Super Bowls (won 2) never had a losing season in a season he started the majority of games, put up gaudy individual game stats where he still holds the records, etc.
Guys like Ryan and Rivers had much less actual accomplishments but put up numbers that didn't really mean anything long-term. The history of the NFL cannot be written without mentioning Ben. Ryan is relegated to a mention in the Super Bowl he choked away and Rivers doesn't need mentioned at all unless there's a weird section about sexual potency.
Big Ben has two rings and great all time stats. No idea how you consider him in the tier with Philip Rivers and Matt Ryan and below Brees.
Regarding Ben Roethlisberger, name me one eligible NFL QB who has started in three Super Bowls but is not in the Hall of Fame.
Also, I think it's fair to say that playing QB in the AFC North is more difficult than playing QB in the AFC West or NFC South. There's no climate-controlled indoor stadium or sunny southern California in the AFC North. Instead, some QBs get their brains bashed in by the Ravens and Bengals defenses, often in poor weather conditions. It's hard for a QB to keep his numbers pretty in a situation like that.
Overall, this is how I see the pre-2016 era of NFL QBs, listed in chronological order by entry into the league:
In on the first ballot
- Peyton Manning
- Tom Brady
- Drew Brees
- Aaron Rodgers
In, but not on the first ballot
- Kurt Warner
- Eli Manning
- Ben Roethlisberger
Probably in
- Russell Wilson
Borderline
- Philip Rivers
- Matt Ryan
Hall of Very Good
- Donovan McNabb
- Carson Palmer
- Tony Romo
- Alex Smith
- Matthew Stafford
- Cam Newton
As for the QBs who have entered the NFL since 2016, Patrick Mahomes is the only one with a clear path to the Hall of Fame. The rest of them still have a lot to prove, but also a lot of time to prove it.
Ben gets in, Rivers and Ryan don't.
Though I don't think he really deserves it, Eli gets in and I understand why it's going to happen.

Phillip Rivers is a lock for Babymaker HOF.
Big Ben yes. Rivers no unless a long wait on the ballot. Matty is a no. Probably bc of 28-3
