It's obviously too early to judge any of these guys (except for Stroud maybe) but how rare is it that all top 4 QBs in a draft class come out looking like possible franchise starters? Bryce has arguably been the worst out of the 4, but even if he had a down week against the colts he has little to no help and even then has been getting better from week to week.

Stroud I don't even think needs to be mentioned in detail. Looking like a top 10 QB as a rookie in the stacked AFC is quite the accomplishment. he just broke the record for yards in a game by a rookie and tied the record for TDs. he's top 10 in yards and TDs and has a TD-INT ratio of 14-1 which is insanely impressive.

Anthony Richardson's season has sadly been cut short and I wish him a quick recovery and hope he's back to full form next season cause DAMN has he been fun to watch. passing was generally fine. 59.5 Cmp%, 577 yards and 3 TDs to 1 INT in 4 games is not as bad as people made him out to be before the start of the season but he was really impressive in rushing with 136 Yds and 4 TDs upping him to 7 total TDs. He's been showing flashes and was very good in these 4 games but I fear if the colts continue to use him this way this might become another RGIII situation.

...and finally, Will Levis. the amount of clowning that this sub did on the man is unbelievable looking back now, even if I was also on of these people. but after throwing 4 TDs in his debut game and looking solid against the steelers I think he has proven he's the best QB the titans have on the roster. is he their future? possibly, it's too early to tell. is he better than tannehill? absolutely.

as for the other QBs.... well....

Tyson Bagent has had one good game, against the raiders.

Clayton Tune was really bad last week but facing of against one of the best defenses in the NFL in his very first game certainly didn't help him so I won't judge.

Aidan O'Connell was... Ok, I guess? He made rookie mistakes, obviously, but he was an ok game manager I suppose I only watched the bears game.

DTR looked good in preseason, as did a lot of other QBs, but was pretty bad against the ravens, which is possibly the best defense in the NFL so I won't really judge him on that.

and Jake Haener was suspended 6 games for taking performance enhancing drugs and has not seen any action yet, fuck me.

2012 is clearly better. Outside of Stroud, everyone else is a giant question mark still.

[–] MugiwaraJinbe@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, gonna be honest that this sounds like a very lackluster start between Bryce Young’s rough situation and Anthony Richardson having a worrisome injury history already. Levis may stack up some more good games, but no one else mentioned is too noteworthy.

[–] LiveFromNewYork95@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Stroud doing a lot of the heavy lifting here.

[–] Quirky-Lawyer-3409@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

2012 still takes the cake. Three rookie QBs made the pro-bowl and led their teams to playoff berths.

[–] uggsandstarbux@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I'd argue it isn't even the best half season in the last 5 years. The start that Burrow and Herbert had were great.

[–] TheSwede91w@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The disrespect to the Jaren THE Hall monitor is too much. 80% completion rating, 10 yards a pass, no ints, no sacks, no fumbles.

i forget the year, but tannehill's class had a really good start. (tannehill, luck, russel wilson, and pretty sure there was a 4th big name qb i'm forgetting, but i might just be thinking mariotta who was a bust)

It’s hard to call this class doing great to me when Richardson and Levi’s have both played like 2 games. I thought both have looked good no doubt but makes it hard to put it up against other classes when they have so little game tape so far. Stroud is off to what could possibly end up being the best QB season of all time and Bryce is not looking good.

The 2020 class started off really well for the most part. Burrow and Herbert came in looking good and while hurts wasn’t consistent and only played 4 games in a starter he looked really good in 2 of them, decent in 1 and bad in his last game.

I wait to reserve judgment on any QB until the rest of the league has played him with the benefit of a full season of film on him. It's awesome that Stroud and Levis look so good, but there is likely to be some kind of regression once the league figures their weaknesses out more so we will see how they respond. It is exciting though

[–] Impossibills@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He also has a strong of tough games coming up. He hasn't faced good defenses exactly. He's still doing great but I almost guarantee there will be a little bit of a drop in performance down the stretch

[–] unbelievablepeople@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I'm madly in love with CJ Stroud, but this is just wrong. The 2012 rookie class was clearly better. Even if you would rank Stroud ahead of Luck, Wilson and RG3 as rookies, none of the other rookies this year are remotely on the same level as those three.

[–] NewBootGoofin88@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Wilson/RG3/Luck/Tannehill in 2012 is by far the best of recent decades as far as rookies QB performance goes

[–] mill_about_smartly@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I'm pretty sure this is a famously mid group of QBs you just detailed.

[–] Lifesaboxofgardens@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

2020 had a pretty great start

Burrow had 2688 yards 15 TDs and 5 INTs in 10 games

Herbert had 4336 yards 31 TDs and 10 INTs in 15 games

Tua had 1814 yards 11 TDs and 5 INTs in 10 games

Hurts took over the starting job and in 5 games had a respectable 1061 yards, 6 TDs and 4 INTs with 3 more TDs on the ground.

This sub has short memories lol.

[–] FridgesArePeopleToo@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Literally only Stroud has been good though...

Bryce Young has been terrible

Anthony Richardson instantly got injured

Will Levis did have a really good game and has made some impressive throws. Definitely promising.

Nobody else of has done anything of note

[–] LateAd3737@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I was clowning Levi’s because he had no business being a number 1 pick, those mock drafts were off their rocker. He was projected top 5, gave us nothing in his last season at UK, and then they moved him up to 1-2?

He got drafted at a much better spot. Less pressure, not having to start immediately. I’m glad he was put somewhere he was able to come in and thrive, and I hope he continues to

[–] Empty_Lemon_3939@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Definitely best class since Covid

[–] lapuertadepizza@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Well yeah RG3 won the NFC East as a rookie while Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson balled out.

[–] ready4wateva@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Class of 1983

[–] JordanLoveOwnsYou@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

2020 had Jordan Love... plus Burrow, Herbert, Hurts, and Tua. Those are 5 elite QBs

[–] ek1992osu@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

One of these things is not like the others~

[–] AssLunatic@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Disagree with the entire premise. One played 4 games (and his stats aren’t great…sub 60 completion percentage and sub 150 yards per game), the other has played in 2. There have been many, many seasons where a lot of rookies have looked good in 2-3 game stretches. Stroud is the only one who has actually looked good.

[–] onetimequestion66@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hey, I’ve seen this one before!

Stroud=Herbert (gunslinger out of the gate)

Young=tua (no help at all, some struggles but some flashes too)

Richardson=burrow (really good start to the season but got hurt early and will h fortunately be out for the year)

Levis=hurts (drafter a bit later so sometimes gets forgotten but is still playing really well)

The rest=love (no one know what to think)

The script is repeating itself

[–] AppropriateGoat2523@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Dollar store version of them other than stroud

[–] notmyplantaccount@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Stroud throws 5 TD's in a week 9, when he'd had 9 the first 7 games, and this sub is inundated with "is stroud the best rookie QB ever, should he be in the MVP talks on a 4-4 team?", but this is possibly the dumbest one yet.

AR played 2 games and is out, Young is struggling, Will Levis has played 2 games.

Stroud is having a great OROY season, could we please just stop with all this other nonsense.

[–] Beaustrodamus@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Stroud is the only one who has looked good, so yes, this would be one of the worst ever if not for Stroud.

[–] SongsForTheDeft@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Bryce young hasn’t looked good at all, Levis hasn’t shown anything either? He had one great game.

So no this isn’t the best QB class through one season ever, not even close.

Basically stroud and Richardson have looked good

[–] Venator850@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It's pretty much just Stroud lighting things up. Only other rookie who's gotten extensive playtime is Young and the Panthers are pure dogshit so he's not going to show much.

2012 you had Luck, RG3, and Wilson all have strong seasons and make the playoffs.

Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco were also good the same year as rookies and made the playoffs IIRC.

[–] AleroRatking@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It's very possible if not likely none of them are even going to make the playoffs. Let's calm down a bit here.

[–] Papplebeast@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Better question, was the 2021 QB class one of the worst ever?

[–] Early-Retirement-22@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It is not a good start. Stroud is great, Levis had one good game, Young is a bust, the rest are non factors. Typical.

[–] facemelt@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
[–] bigmandave1588@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

AOC definitely has some room for improvement but he can actually get the ball down the field, just has slight accuracy problems

[–] JaydedXoX@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The 1983 QB draft class included John Elway, Jim Kelly and Dan Marino bd three others, and even that group didn’t have as great a year one as the current folks.

[–] LLMBS@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Is this a serious question? Not only is it not the best ever, I’m not even sure it is an above average class at this point. Stroud is carrying this class on his back.

[–] vagrantwade@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

This is one of those submissions that makes me think I'm too smart to be spending my time on Reddit.

[–] Financial-Phone@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I feel like the 2021 draft class was just so bad that it makes Young,Richardson, and Levis look elite in comparison
