The fans eagerly await the arrival of Caleb Williams thanks to the incompetence of the panthers management

The day the bears find a franchise qb is the day I realize that I’m old
Wins are a QB stat btw
Fields is likely a bust but honestly this is a coaching problem more than a QB problem. We clown the Bears for never having "the guy" at QB, but the coaches that have cycled through Halas Hall are basically all memes in their own right.
Owners need to go.
No it’s a fields problem, not a single coach could have turned that guy into a quality starter
You'd think fans of a franchise that shipped out a HOF QB for Jordan Love would have enough to worry about.
You haters need to stop. Justin Fields just needs a little bit of help from the o-line and a coach that is going to make use of his talents and he will prove you all wrong.
2024 is the year of Fields for MVP.
Lmao I know he doesn’t have the strongest supporting cast but it’s crazy how the narrative that every other QB would struggle to win anything on the Bears is still alive
Even a lot of Bears fans back this. Oh, the Bears would have ruined Mahomes. That nonsense is such a slap in the face of great QBs. The fact is, the Bears have just been really bad at drafting QBs and haven't been aggressive in drafts with regard to the position. Before Trubisky and Fields, the most recent first round QB the Bears drafted was Rex Grossman in 2003.
Yes he was 0-7, but he wasn't all that bad this year compared to years prior
Incoming mental gymnastics and Redditor cope for fields
Flair checks out. I don’t really think using wins as a QB stat to knock Fields is needed. Just looking at his passing stats is good enough alone for that….
On the plus side, y’all are kind of set for the future.
Yeah, Fields is what haters thought Lamar was
Had me in the first half. Not gonna lie.
So basically the same thing?
There’s a reason 31 other teams did not want him
This one honestly feels like coincidence
They also beat utterly dogshit teams
He just happened to be out this week when they played the worst team. He also missed when they played a bad LV with a QB I’d never heard of before. Like lots of stats, you can’t just blindly look at the numbers.
a 31 game sample size versus a 13 game sample size? do they teach common sense anymore?
It's been remarkable how many great college qbs Ohio State churns out that end up being massive duds in the nfl, stroud not counting since he's a rookie
Reminds me of the whole Wilson vs Flacco/White narrative the last few years.
difference maker
This ‘argument’ is such a mouth breather take. If you think Bagent is better than Fields you should have your football watching privileges revoked.
I don't really subscribe to QB wins unless it's over a 4 yr span or longer but damn..that's a shocking stat. Just wow.
I think they have their eyes on Caleb Williams and will trade Fields to the Falcons next summer.
it’s an unfair stat because the teams (except the bengals) that the backup beat were piss poor
Williams isn’t any better. He falls apart against ranked teams.
Falcons fans: can we please stop wasting our physical specimens of players by not utilizing their talent?
(Trades for Justin Fields)
Arthur Smith: you ain’t seen nothing yet!
There is no span of time that it is a useful stat in a vacuum.
Ooooof
He always gets a medal for fucking up protection calls at the line because it makes people think his teammates suck even more than they already do
Feel like this is a bit of a stretch considering 3 of the wins you’re listing are by Andy Dalton who was named the starter in 2021. I wouldn’t count him as a true backup - he was legit better than Rookie Fields.
In 2022-2023, it would be 2-4 vs 4-17; still awful but doesn’t show that the backups are winning much more.
Justin Fields is a pretty good running back who lines up as QB.
Such a dumb line that people love to rehash.
Call it like it really is. He's a dual threat QB who is an amazing athlete but hasn't fixed his issues as a passer.
As prognosticators have been telling us for the past couple of years, Fields as good if not better than Hurts. The data has been tallied up and he has a clear advantage....in losses.
wins against:
1-1 Bengals (AFC Champions)
0-9-1 Lions
5-9 Seahawks
4-11 Giants
3-3 Raiders
1-7 Panthers
He beat us
Justin played most of that Bengals game too
Also Dalton was the week 1 starter Fields' rookie year.
How exactly does it count as the backup if Dalton started all his games as the starting QB, then didn't start a single game once benched?
Green Bay education is bad but that's a reach. That's like counting Tannehills wins this season as backup wins against Levis.
That was also peak QB sneak on your own 1 Giants to add some context
I’m just sad at this point as a fan
What if you swapped Justin Fields for Zach Wilson?
Opponent PPG for Fields:
2023: 31.4
2022: 25.2
2021: 25.1 (technically he was the backup)
In the last full NFL season, 25.1 would be good for 28th worst defense, 31.4 would be 4 points worse than the worst defense.
Opponent PPG for backups:
2023: 19.75
2022: 31 (one game, L)
2021: 22.2 (Dalton technically the starter)
In the last full NFL season, 22.2 would be good for the 18th worst defense. 19.75 would be 7th.
I don't get it that have the same amount of wins
I feel really sorry for Justin Fields. I feel like the organization that coaching staff don’t know how to really utilize his strengths.
‘It works for Aaron Rodgers’ - Luke Getsy every offensive planning session
At this point I thought everybody just assumed that the Bears were taking Williams using the Panthers pick
Look at lamars mvp season. Fewer passing yards than that, and iirc, fewer rushing yards .
If not it's nearly identical as far as yardage.
And yeah, fields is definitely not without his faults. That's sack rate is an issue as is the fumbling.
Last 17 games 3100 passing 1200 rushing 35 total tds 12 ints and a lot of fumbles.
Is there any precedent to a QB that runs so well (but wasn't a successful QB) transitioning to being a RB? Seems like if he doesn't stick in the league as a QB, he could excel as an RB and keep the defense guessing with gadget plays. And no, I haven't watched enough of Fields to be judging him as a QB, just asking a more general question if this has happened before.
