Unless you're playing a high school game or maybe, in some cases, a college game where one team will be severely outmatched and it will be uncompetitive, scoring as much as you can shouldn't even be an issue. These are professionals.

There’s only 4 games in the qualifying rounds. 5 teams per group. There’s going to be record ties. Point differential matters because that’s how you break a tie.
For somebody like Embiid the money isn’t a motivator but for the lower levels coaching staff or the guys on smaller contracts this might be a really nice Christmas bonus. It’s good that he’s showing that he cares.
