This or the HD 600?

[–] brownbear8714@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I don’t even have these but from all the discussion and seemingly high praise, this seems like such a steal for these. And only $150 for the HD58x … I wish more of my friends would get stuff like this instead of paying more for what I (and probably many) think are inferior.

I got these last year when they were on sale and I still love them!

[–] iroyv@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Thanks! Was waiting for a good price to replace my HD650s which are pretty much on its last legs after 10+ years.

[–] Overall_Draft_9416@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I love that I got mine for $199 like 5 days ago... well, 189 with the coupon but still haha

[–] LazyRider32@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Nice. Sucks to live in the EU tho. :/

[–] heybart@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I tried the 58x and was meh on it. It's fine but doesn't give me any wow feeling at any time. How's the 6xx by comparison

[–] relevant_rhino@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It's a steal.

[–] Umlautica@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This is the best price you'll find on these. If you're waiting for the deal, this is it.

[–] bauerracing@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I ordered them last night, I work for a univ hospital so I saved another $17.90.

[–] MartyKinn@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The lacking in bass holds me back.

[–] ConstantineSid@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I am using these at this moment. Best bang for the buck headphone IMO

I own the 560S and HD600 which is similar to 6XX and I haven't used my 560S in months. The 600 is much more smooth and enjoyable sounding whereas the 560S is thin and a bit boring in comparison. It is well worth the upgrade in my opinion.

[–] JohnJohnDonald@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I was gonna get these or the 5xx and I got the 5xx I don’t regret it. They slam

[–] Dusty_da_Cat@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

New to the headphone game. I have a HD600 that was modded with HD660S drivers and dekoni lambskin pads, which supposedly evened out the sound signature. Would this be a side-grade more than anything?

[–] TheCookieButter@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

How do they compare to the HD650? My brother has those and I prefer my HD598. Not sure if these would be an upgrade.

[–] biiillll@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Would I like these if I enjoyed the HD598SEs? I've had that pair for a while and it might be time to retire them.

Also, do these need an amp?

[–] KingBasten@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It depends, for me giving up the soundstage from the 598 was a bit disappointing since I paid 350 euros for the HD650 at the time, I didn't expect that downgrade. On the other hand the resolution and definition in the sound is a definite step up. The HD650/HD6XX just sounds really tight, like you just came from the hairdresser lol. I'd say you'll probably enjoy them. Yeah you might need an amp, they're just demanding enough that your phone or computer might lack some volume with them. Depends a lot on how loud you listen as well.

[–] evanmico@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

When I went from my 598 to 650 the improvement was quite noticable. Biggest thing is that the bass and lower frequencies on the 650 sound much more prominent, but also clearer. Also, yes, amp absolutely required for the 650

[–] sissybicucktx@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

My first audiophile headphone, and still the one I always come back to. There is simply no better headphone for playing music quietly in the background while working. It's relaxing, natural, beautiful. It never wows or distracts, but it's never quite boring, either. It's far too musical for that. It has a very unique sort of magic. It does benefit from excessive amp power.

[–] llIicit@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

not exactly a “sale”

This is delusion talking. This is absolutely a sale. You don’t find these cheaper unless you go second hand market.

[–] l0udninja@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Loved the k7xx for comfort (weight and low clamp pressure) And clarity (not a bass head)

Will I enjoy these?

Got mine last time this price came around and it was well worth it

[–] Jadonson@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

There's probably no reason to get these if I have the 660s? How different could they possibly sound?

Worth owning if you already have a dt 1990?

[–] Truestorydreams@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I was looking at these awhile and debating if black Friday will have a better deal.

My debate is these or hd599.

My only headphones are steelseries artic 7. Love them. They sound so good to me.

Now if I'd be upgrading what would be the better overall. Since I plan to use them with ps5 + pc + phone movies.

Hd599 no amp required. Hd 660 will buy the amp drop sells

Artic 7 was my first taste and I'm just looking for more for now.

[–] vballboy55@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Would these be a big upgrade for gaming over a Vmoda Mx-100?

[–] Further_Shore@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Would these be a significant upgrade to phillips shp9500? Casual listening with a dac/amp

[–] GrMasterAsia@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I just got one yesterday, upgrading from a Koss KSC75 and was disappointed by how muddy it is compared to the Koss earclips and had to EQ it. This purchase made me learn that I prefer V shaped headphones for listening to music

I had the 6XX before but sold them. Now have the HD600, HD660S, HD660S2, and wondering if I should pick these up again cause that’s a great price.

[–] mogus666@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

You don’t really need it imo, you already have great 600 series headphones, and the hd 600 is just a more refined 650/6xx. So unless you wanna complete the collection, it’s not worth

[–] hoodoer@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I absolutely love these headphones. Been using the hell out of them for a few years now.

[–] pickles740@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Coming from SHP9500s I been having for years…this worth the buy?

Worth it if I have a fiio ft3 and edition xs?

I still don't understand why my local store sell these at near USD $500. =(

[–] flylikeawind@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It's a great time to be an audiophile

[–] EclipseDudeTN@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Just got a pair NIB for $100, I’ve tried so many phones for mixing and these are my new go to for both mix checks and casual listening. They’re the most subjectively “right” Sounding headphone I’ve heard, everything just feels so naturally presented.

[–] mainguy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I got these and gotta say I think the Elegia is way better overall for the 200-250ish it goes for atm

[–] compaqdeskpro@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Are they going to label them with their old name forever and ever?

[–] Nephurus@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I got the atx mx50. Still new to it all but learning . Worth a try or no?

[–] Changy915@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If I want a pair of headphones in this price range for casual fps, rpg games and pop music, should I get these or the 58x or something else?

[–] Mediocre_Advice4966@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

560S is the best choice for gaming due to its slightly better wider soundstage but 6XX is better for listening to music due to the smoother sound.

[–] uringosuprindo@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I’ve always had planars, Sundara, LCD-2C, looking for a lightweight option for long gaming sessions as the LCDs are killing my neck. don’t mind a slight downgrade in sound for comfort, will I be disappointed getting these?

[–] Wills1211@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Can you drive these with a cellphone? Pixel 5

[–] Clamgravy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Total noob to the audiophile headphone world. What else do I need to take advantage of these? A separate amplifier?

Id be listening to vinyl through a receiver the majority of the time.

Current headphones are Sennheiser momentum 4 and pixel bud pros

[–] flashb1024@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If your receiver has a headphone jack, you're probably good to go!

The HD 6XX is very efficient, high sensitivity.

If you can't shatter your ears, get a headphone amp.

[–] xPizzaKittyx@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Just ordered a pair, hopefully they last longer than my dt990s. I’m on my 3rd pair and 1 driver replacement in the last 3 years for my dt990s all because of the same driver ticking issue. I’ve loved the way they sound but the ticking is just straight up infuriating. Just moved out of state and I come to my new home to a driver tick… im over it

[–] Bolmothy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

how do they compare to sundaras?

[–] derechoeagle@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Are these a worthwhile upgrade from DT770 pros?
