Summary

Donald Trump appointed 22-year-old Thomas Fugate to lead the DHS Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships (CP3), which combats terrorism and hate violence.

Fugate, who graduated in 2024, previously worked as a grocery store clerk and self-employed landscaper.

He joined Trump’s 2024 campaign and briefly served as a special assistant in DHS immigration.

Despite lacking direct experience in counterterrorism, DHS officials cited his work ethic in justifying his rapid promotion. His political rise includes internships with the Heritage Foundation and Texas lawmakers, and an active pro-Trump social media presence.

You can tell he practiced that look in front of the mirror.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 1 points 10 hours ago

In Spanish Fugate literally means imperatively "escape". So the whole name means....Tom, escape! Run away man!

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 1 points 10 hours ago

And what should I call you, Mister?

Fugato, Thomas Fugato. Stirred, but mostly shaken.

And how much will it be?

One million dollars!

[–] MangioneDontMiss@lemmy.ca 1 points 10 hours ago

honestly, better than another fucking billionaire.

"includes internships with the Heritage Foundation" there is it, fucking hell

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Dang, I had put my money on rich daddy donor. (edit: that could still be right...)

[–] Absaroka@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

I mentioned this in some other threads, but this guy has to have influential/wealthy parents or an uncle or a sugar daddy or something.

It would be one thing if he was some kind of GOP genius (an oxymoron, I know). But the articles make it sound like he's just a guy.

Which tingles my spideysense into thinking he must be a nepobaby.

That ... and his fucking face. Seriously. What a punchable, arrogant face.

[–] boolean_sledgehammer@lemmy.world 47 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How the hell are we ever supposed to take this country seriously again?

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Oh, that's all over now.

What we were hoping for:

what we got:

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 17 points 1 day ago

I see that the article is misinformed:

Donald Trump appointed 22-year-old Thomas Fugate as the new fall guy at the DHS Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships (CP3), which combats terrorism and hate violence.

Fugate, who graduated in 2024, previously worked as a grocery store clerk and self-employed landscaper.

Mr. Trump said in press briefing that Mr. Fugate has the perfect combination of inexperience, stupidity and trust in the GOP, to be manipulated in taking the fall when the current administration's policies will be shown to have failed: "He is exactly the kind of young person this administration needs."

[–] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 27 points 1 day ago

I think the real questions were asked by another poster in another thread, who are his parents and how much did they pay to get him this ride?

[–] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 34 points 1 day ago (1 children)

"Work ethic" Okay, who'd this guy have to fuck for this?

[–] Eldritch@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Considering his age there's a good chance that in the not too distant past it was actually him on the other end.

He is trumps bastard.

[–] benignintervention@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Is he trying to copy Trump's official glare? Cringe.

Also, why can't I be appointed to a random high-level government job? I actually have government experience.

[–] thebeardedpotato@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It sounds like the problem is that you have too many working brain cells. You’ll need to kill about 90% of them off to qualify with this administration.

[–] benignintervention@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Damn, shouldn't have quit drinking

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 day ago

I actually have government experience.

Well that disqualifies you for this administration to begin with

[–] Tikiporch@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

You got any connections to big fascism?

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I was gonna say he looks like something has just touched his butthole and he's not sure what it might be.

[–] swelter_spark@reddthat.com 1 points 10 hours ago

Definitely some heavy Nick vibes, ngl. If MAGA wasn't such a moronic movement, I'd think it intentional. Here's to hoping he has less plot armor than his fictitious friend.

[–] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

yea that eyebrow photo says he is gonna self destruct in a year or so

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago

Did he work at the prestigious Four Seasons Total Landscaping?

[–] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago

Another high quality hire for a high quality administration.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago

We are so very fucked. Get out if you can.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Someone should photoshop him holding a cat up to his chest in this photo

Classic cheesy 60s era Bond villain

[–] knowone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 1 day ago

Such an easy way he found to show us he's an "attempt to gaslight her into thinking she did orgasm, actually" vibes kinda guy

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

That guy looks like he shits diamonds.

There's definitely a Moriarty vibe going on.

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

He has one of those faces you can bisect vertically and flip from each side to make two completely different faces.

[–] toast@retrolemmy.com 10 points 1 day ago

Picture matches the tone of the hiring perfectly. Let him keep the job. I want to see how this plays out.

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

At least it’s not kid rock.

[–] GuyFawkes@midwest.social 8 points 1 day ago

With this level of incompetence, first terror attack should lead to EXECUTIONS.

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 2 points 1 day ago

All these random picks. Like im shocked I was randomly offered the a job in the mail by now.

[–] msprout@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago
