He is currently averaging 20/6/2 with 1.3 blocks on 11 FGA per game with shooting splits of 56/40/83. Among players with more than 75 field goals attempted, which is currently the top 137 players in the NBA, he is currently leading the league with a 69% TS. Not to mention, both him and the Jays along with Jrue have great chemistry and they have been abusing smaller defenders on the post through mismatch or KP would find JB through a back door cut or when he is double teamed, he would find the right pass for a wide open 3. His passing has been impressive even tho he doesn’t generate a lot of assists.

He is shooting 67% from 2PA, up from his 50% career average.

Being a roller with the Jays or just posting up mismatches has made him an assassin.

He’s 7th in the league, not 1st. Impressive for sure, but the title is totally wrong. In fact he isn’t even 1st on his own team.

Porzingis as a team’s fourth best player is wild. The Celtics have a stacked starting 5

[–] AthKaElGal@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

he's their 2nd best player, not 4th best.

[–] fueelin@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Bare minimum 3rd best.

[–] Mjoh23@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

But theres no pressure of needing to be 2nd best player. This was best decision ever for KPs career.

[–] maethlin@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Why doesn't every star just play with 3-4 other stars, are they stupid?

[–] lost_in_trepidation@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Their off season was crazy to me. They were already a contending team, but adding KP for Smart was a huge upgrade, and then they also added Jrue. Insane improvement in just one off-season for an already contending team.

[–] Complexity777@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He’s their 2nd best player, media will tell you he’s 4th but stats don’t lie

[–] LovetheNBA23@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He needs to rebound better though. I’m watching him on the Celtics and he’s terrible on the boards.

Every single game I think to myself, "man, KP has been underutilized tonight"

Super effecient 17.

[–] fueelin@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I love how we have 4 awesome but largely quite reserved players and then JB dunking and flexing constantly.

[–] 1371113@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

His barber has a great eye too. The lines are so perfectly curved and even.

JB has been a human highlight reel this year

Timberwolves defense still shut him down tho 👀

[–] leverkusenschlekt@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

In the 3 Celtics games I've watched he has been their most impactful player. I miss him in NY

[–] notthesethings@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

My boy Cason Wallace has a 77% TS. Get this man more shots!

[–] MegamanGaming@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Boston sure is fun to watch this season. Losing smart stung, but getting Jrue and KP was nasty.

[–] flipflopflappers@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

For real can't believe they got better even after losing some of their key players. Their new big 3 is hella scary with the addition of KP and Jrue.

[–] Overall-Palpitation6@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I notice that Porzingis has cut down significantly on mid-range shots (which he always converted at a decent rate rate) this season.

Prior to this year, 30.08% of Porzingis' career total FGA were from the 10FT-3PT range, and he shot .427 on those attempts. This season, just 11.54% of his FGA are coming in that range, and he's shooting .417 on those attempts.

[–] CreatiScope@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Doesn't need to, he gets a lot of open looks on 3s when he screens for the Jays and then he gets easy shots at the rim on mismatches or lobs or dump offs, easy eating. I think in his previous situations, he was the #1 guy (#2 in Dallas, I guess debatable with the Wiz but I think he's better than Beal). He had a weak inside game and if the play broke down, he'd take that shot. Now? If the play breaks down, it's usually Tatum or Brown taking that contested shot.

I thought the Celtics fucked up giving up Williams for porzingis smh boy was I wrong

[–] mrhjt@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Smart but yeah, same difference

[–] Matto_0@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's kind of funny we traded our PG for a C, and then our C for a PG. So I could see why people would assume it was the other way.

[–] fueelin@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Thank God for Milwaukee... I loved Malcolm, but him, White, and PP doesn't sound anywhere near as good as what we ended up with.

[–] Son_of_Atreus@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That was such a gift from the Bucks. Manna from heaven.

Kristaps has been great but it’s so weird to me that a 7 footer who plays significant minutes averages less rebounds than some guards around the league.

[–] mrhjt@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Cause he often stands around the perimeter to space the floor. It’s positioning.

[–] DrownedInBeans@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

That is part of it but the Knicks big men tonight clearly hustled for boards more than Porzingis does. I'm fine with it because if Porzingis bangs too much down low he'll most likely get hurt. But he's not necessarily an elite rebounding talent, and I think the Celtics may struggle a little bit against dominant physical big men.

[–] GalaxyWarlock@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

So glad to see him prosper on the Celtics. After watching him perform last year on the Wizards for a full healthy season I knew he would be a beast on a contender.

[–] trickfield@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I'm so happy for him. I wish he could have stayed healthy when he played for us. Luka and KP just didn't have enough consistent time together to build chemistry. There was flashes but it's hard when they didn't even play a full single season together.

KP on a team where he's not relied on to be the superstar or even the second best player on any given night is the best situation for him and dangerous for the league. When your defense gameplans for KP then he can be limited. When your defense has to gameplan for Tatum / Brown then KP is going to be a major problem. He'll torch the 3rd best defender and get perfect mismatches and will produce at a super efficient rate.

What a great situation for him. Please basketball gods keep this man healthy it's a better league with him playing in it.

[–] bodhibell02@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

At the Kristaps...the Kristaps Porzingisssss

(Sung to the tune of coco cabana)

[–] totaliron@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Still amazed that most people on the Mavs sub are stupid enough to think trading KP for Dinwiddie and Bertans was a good trade for us.

[–] fueelin@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Eh, it's all worked out pretty well for the both of us, 8-2 brother!

Death taxes and early season porzingis..

[–] cmcg18@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Whenever he takes a deep 3 it feels like it’s 100% going in

Boston turned him from a unicorn to a clydesdale horse

[–] jtmackay@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think this is more of an indictment on his situation vs how good he is playing.. anybody with a brain could see that he would thrive with Tatum, brown and Jrue.

He's coming off a career year with Wizards, where the most notable other player was Kuzma (Beal struggled with injuries)... The fit is great, but it's not all that is.

[–] viking_machina@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Porzingis is so good when he realizes he doesn’t have to let 6’4 guys guard him

[–] wholsmay@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Not a surprise. He is playing surrounded by all stars, he isn’t the first or second option on the team, doesn’t need to charge the attack, just let the game flow till his end.

Good for him. Let's see him stay healthy for once

How about last year and a half?

[–] Zatoichi_Flash@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Its hard to be a believer when I've seen this man turn into brick city in a crucial game 7. I need to see this production in more meaningful games

Perfect situation for him if he is the number one or two option he buckles

[–] Sirgainzz@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

As a Mavs Fan i am sad, that his health held him back while he was a maverick, but i am really happy that he is healthy now and found a team he can have success with. Wish him all the best.... maybe he can get a ring this year.

[–] Rithgarth@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The Celtics off to their usual unsustainable hot start I see.
