Booker gonna pass klay and like half of the guys on this list when hes done
I'd have to agree He just needs to win a championship to cement his legacy, otherwise he's just gonna turn into T-Mac
Klay’s a shadow of what he once was. He’s only shooting 42% FG’s & 34% 3-Pt range. At what point does he become a role player? He’s a catch & shoot guy. Don’t get me wrong, I love Klay, but injuries & age have caught up with him. It’s a young man’s game.
If you really value RANGZ than maybe but I'd absolutely have all 10 guys you listed ahead of Klay as individual players
Probably at 11. If we just talk about pure shooting then he's easily top 5 all time
For pure shooting I'd rate him 2nd behind Curry
After seeing some other comments, I think I'd rate him around 12-13th, behind Dumars and tied with Booker (although I think Booker will finish his career ahead of Klay)
Not top 75 and not top 10 at the position. If Draymond is Steph’s backpack then Klay is Steph’s fannypack.
Do people think Pippen is a top 10 SF all time?
Post 3pt era?
No
Harden below Wade only makes sense if you're using careers and not peak. Harden below Gervin is inexcusable. Same thing with AI below top 5 SG. And no, Klay is not touching top 10 SG. His high scoring games have really made people think that he was better than Dray during the dynasty years.
Yes future hall of fame. 4 rings is no joke, even though he is half washed now.
George Gervin above Harden and No AI on the list?
Ginobili is better.
Klay isn’t even the best SG on his team.
It’s hard to say, if he would have kept following the track he was on before the injuries I’d put him around 8/9. Like assuming he retired when he was injured, I would probably put him 5-7. How many times was Tracy mcgradey after his injury?
top 15
1 jordan
2 bryant
3 wade
4 harden
5 miller
6 gervin
7 drexler
8 ginobili
9 allen
10 iverson
11 hardaway
11 carter
12 mcgrady
13 booker
14 thompson
15 petrovic
Not a bad list, I'd disagree with Miller and Ginobili's placement but otherwise I'd agree (McGrady over Carter as well perhaps)
Hardaway was a PG I counted Iverson as a PG as well (arguable)
I don't think so. He has benefitted so much from playing with Curry and KD. He has a terrible handle for a shooting guard and I don't think he can reliably create his own shot the way elite guards of the past could.
I think if KD didn't come Klay could have improved his handles but then he got injured. As after that Klay was never his peak self. Now he has no identity if he can't make 3s efficiently.
I'd take him over VC for sure
wonder if theres a period after he retires where people start to look fondly on harden, maybe he ends his career with good pr
Definitely need AI. But just here to say TMac and especially VC are overrated. I can see an argument for a very peak TMac but VC was just not ever the guy. I’d put Dumars over VC or even Mitch Richmond or Sidney Moncrief.
VC carried his team pretty hard, scored a ton, and had almost twice as long of a career as Dumars
I'd rate VC and Dumars pretty similarly, probably a bit above Klay
TMac was legitimately one of the top 5 best players in the league for a while, which is no small feat
Vince Carter was in no way, shape or form better than Klay Thompson.
Klay is the second greatest 3 point shooter of all time
Id take peak Klay over peak Tmac, Vince and Ray. Hes hella washed but I think peak Klay was the best 3&d player the league has seen.
Hed be a great 2nd option on any team
Best 3&D SG or best 3&D player?
I think peak Kawhi is significantly better than peak Klay in every way except maybe pure shooting
Nah. I’m not convinced he’s that much better than Bradley Beal, Monte Ellis, Kevin Martin, Jason Richardson, Joe Johnson.
Klay Thompson has to be one of the most overrated players in the history of the NBA.
He's an absolutely elite role player - but there are zero advanced stats that show him being anymore than that.
He's not in the same universe as guys like Reggie Miller or Ray Allen.
He was good before he got his first major injury. After that he lost a step... Dude is performing worse than Harrison Barnes.
Klay isn't a role player. He's a 5x all-star. This is a guy who can give you 60 points, the same career high as Larry Bird. Name a role player who can score like that. This is a guy who has put up 40 or more points in over 15 games. He's not Kyle Korver or something.
On a nightly basis, he puts up 20 points, next to Steph Curry, who's scoring like 30. He's clearly a sidekick, but one who's a star in his own right. It's quite a lot like Scottie Pippen scoring next to MJ or like CJ McCollum scoring next to Dame.
Iverson had a better career than McGrady
I considered him a PG
He prob has at least 8-9 seasons being deployed at SG while Eric Snow was the PG
I thought this was Ray Allen, T-Mac, and Peja shooters but if we are talking about freaking MJ and Kobe then hell no lol
No Manu?
I'd honestly have to rate Klay over Manu because he scores more, has more defensive accolades, is more efficient, and is just as successful
I think Manu's argument is that he was a better passer/dribbler
Whoa. Wtf is up with the choke artist fit throwing beard listed at #5? That’s about 45 spots to high.
I think he’s massively overrated
All those guys on that list can create their own shot.
Klay is better than Reggie, honestly he is probably the improved version.
No
He's Arcade. So you never know.
Doesn’t even come close to Vince carter as a player.
Based off that list hellllllllllllll no
Klay never had to drive a bus. Cant put him up there. Always 2nd or 3rd banana. Klay has NEVER been the focus of a defense like the all time greats were
2nd or 3rd bananas are always slightly bruised
