Since Saddiq Bey was traded on February 12th, 2023 the Pistons finished that season 2-23, with both wins coming against the Indiana Pacers. They have started 2-10 this season, with wins against the Hornets and Bulls.

Obviously this isn't about Saddiq but it's a wild stat nonetheless.

The Blazers are 9-30 since they helped them complete that trade.

[–] BBallHunter@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That's really wild. Hope they turn it around soon.

[–] granttheginger@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They really traded Bey for James Wiseman

[–] EdwEd1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That's what happens when your starting backcourt is Cade and Killian Hayes, 32-year-old Alec Burks has been their best guard

[–] RickyRains222@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I didn’t peep this stat… idk if most NBA analysts did either because this is bottom of the barrel sad 🫠

[–] JurgenFlippers@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Someone needs to tell me unironically why their roster is the way it is. Cade, Ivey, and Duran have big upside. But we are being subjected to 30 minutes a night of Killian Hayes and Beef Stew. It ruins the games flow and spacing. Monty needs to explain himself.

Bojan missed a lot of these games for what it’s worth. Really wish Weaver wasn’t so into bigs and busted former lottery picks though 😩

[–] Wes_119@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

it goes as planned tho

They could do better at putting the ball in the hoop and that defense thing.

[–] IronLad420@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Asuar could be on the all-defense team as a rookie, which is a bright spot for them. He is already one of the best perimeter defenders this season.

I've been a big Saddiq Bey fan since 2021 when I was watching different rookies play when trying to build arguments for why Jae'Sean Tate should be All Rookie First Team. My conclusion on Bey was that he did the things winning players do and there was no argument against him really.

I was really surprised when the Pistons traded him.

Cade and Lamelo really got some of the worst rotations I’ve seen for young stars

[–] Targetonmyback07@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Not like they were setting the world on fire at 15-42 before 🤷‍♂️

[–] SG-2000@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They even lost the new draft lottery falling from 1st to 5th.

Who does that help, exactly?

[–] LotsaKwestions@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think that knowing how things look at this point, other than if they got Wembanyama, the Pistons might have taken Ausar with even the #2 pick anyway.

[–] KryptoNike07@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

There’s a subreddit called r/PovertyPistons and it’s honestly hilarious of the amount of hate you need to make something like that but how true it is at the same time

[–] PoisonIvey313@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah Saddiq Bey made a difference 😂 that 2021 draft really got under these thunder raptors rockets and cavs fanboys skin 😂😂💀

[–] Legitimate_Secret_79@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

that was their objective

[–] ForneauCosmique@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Holy shit this has to be one of the worst stretches in history

I don't think losing Saddiq was responsible for all those loses, but it still feels like a weird decision to me.

He was only 23 when they traded him, and still possesses quite a lot of upside imo. He's also a genuine wing, and the Pistons are overloaded with young guards and bigs.

[–] Jaerba@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I don't think he really has that much upside besides being a 40% shooter. He was going to need his new contract and he's not really a 3&D.

[–] rake2204@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Four wins since February is wild.

[–] Nweber15@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I really didn't need to see this today

[–] Sad_Conclusion8488@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So what you're saying is that the Pistons suck?

[–] rumblepony247@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

At this rate it's gonna end up at about a million dollars per win for Monty this year. What a grift - more power to him lol

[–] goblue202320242025@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s been a rough 15 years for my nba fandom. Thank god I at least got to see and grow up with the going to work pistons but it’s crazy how far away we are from that era

[–] SandyMandy17@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I mean they’re still very clearly in the talent acquisition phase

The rockets should be too, but they don’t own their picks

[–] Dependent-Crow-280@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Trading Bey was a terrible decision.

[–] LotsaKwestions@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

IMO, Bey is basically utterly irrelevant to the state of the Pistons.

[–] dawnofthedunk_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Is Weaver on the hot seat? Legit question. Do fans want him gone?

[–] Jaerba@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Detroit GMs are the last people who make it to the hot seat.

[–] HappyHunt1778@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah they a dogshit team I don't think they really finna improve anytime soon fr fr

[–] A-Confused-Comet@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Wasn't that due to Bojan getting injured? He was carrying Pistons last year

[–] UGLEHBWE@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Can't have shit in Detroit

[–] the_greasy_one@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Teams just don't want to win anymore.

[–] cousin_will@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Pistons have been the worst franchise in the league since Tome Gores bought the team. So sad to see a historic franchise turn into this

[–] AroundNdowN@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

God I wish someone would Sterling his ass

[–] plato4life@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Because they were so good before that.

[–] metamucil0@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I stopped following the team tbh

[–] Asking4Afren@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bey dominated the Knicks the other night. Wish we picked him up his name was being called a few times.

[–] Shxcking@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Saddiq is a hooper it’s definitely 100% about him

[–] TdotSkunt@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

and yet everyone is still in Cade dik...he just MCW with opportunities

[–] StriveForBetter99@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bad team for long , nba has too many teams

[–] Walticious@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I was downvoted to hell when I said Monty Williams is a bad coach

[–] Unique_Enthusiasm_57@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Other Pistons fans continue to tell me how much better this is than where we were.

Fuck that. This sucks. I've had enough. I wanna go back in time and stick with 8-seed Purgatory. I'll take Reggie Jackson, Andre Drummond and the last gasp of oxygen from Blake Griffin. I never wanted to tank. I hate it here.

[–] joeb1ow@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Lol, Imma guess that they were probably 4-33 in the games before the trade too.
