Next you’ll get a Heretic and after that the Vali+. LMAO. Then you’ll want a Modi for each amp. Enjoy your Schiit stack. I love my 600s on the Magni and Vali.

we all say this, more like "this is my startgame'

The reason people complain about the bass is because you know how you're hearing things you never heard? Well, there's more bass that you can hear on other sets which you can't on the 600, and once you go back you can't unhear the lack of authority in the bass.

There's so many genres where 90% of the interesting and fun stuff in the music is in the sub bass.

Congratulations, and I hope you enjoy it for quite a long time. Yes, and no, the bass is indeed present on that set, but I find it a bit lacking in rumble and depth of the sub bass. But what I find pleasing about them is how clear and intimate the mids are. The treble is smooth, though some would find them "veiled" but I don't find that that is the case, personally. No wonder it is the reference for quality headphones even after decades since it was first released.

When it comes to the bass, it really depends on what type of music you're using as reference. If you are listen to genres that use traditional instrumentation, I too think they have plenty of bass for that, and quite enough for a very satisfying listen. However, for modern genres that make heavy use of the subbass regions for various effects and atmosphere, the HD600 can be quite anemic. It also depends what other pairs you've used in the past. For me it took listening to the Elegia with a 6db low shelf @200hz + a tube amp and an LCD-2C EQed with a 10db low shelf @105hz to fully understand why people consider that HD600 lack bass.

But you know, overall I agree, I feel like the whole HD600 lacks bass thing is a bit overblown. Sort of similar to exagerrations about soundstage in open backs. Being inside a concert hall my ass, it still sounds like the sound is coming a couple of centimeters away from my ears, even with an Edition XS.

You'll be back!!

JUST STOP NOW LEAVE THE SUBREDDIT THROW AWAY YOUR INTERNET GO RUN FASTER GET OUT OF HERE WHILE YOU CAN THERES STILL HOPE FOR YOU

The bass might be plenty to you but it's not for me. I need a lot more than any Sennheiser product can provide.

Is a myth and just about readjusting for a few days, yes. Been there, it's only there after getting used to brighter pairs.

The HD600 & 650 were the first “good” headphone I had. Enjoyed them quite a bit for over 6 years. Until a friend who worked at Harman gifted me an AKG K702. It was like a blanket was lifted from my music and I was able to hear the instruments distinctly, with an amazing openness I thought only possible with really good speakers. Since then, I got a K701 as well an HD800. I alternate between the headphones depending on my mood. Even tried buying another HD600 recently to see if they still had that veil. Within a week I returned them — it felt as if I was listening through a constricted tube…again. No amount of “readjusting” would help. There’s no going back.

For the record I listen almost exclusively to classical music and some acoustic bebop. My headphone amp is a Marantz DAC1 dac/amp. Maybe others with different musical tastes can live with that infamous veil, good luck to them.

hopefully this doesnt bother you anymore but im pretty sure the "Samson" SR860 is a counterfeit of the SR850

[–] totallynotajojofan@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

i still have them and they sound fine to me lol

No one tell him how great the 600s sound on tubes.

You're gonna shell out 1.8 grand for a minor upgrade with the 800s soon since youre now on the sennhesier cult.

[–] ekortelainen@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Why is this the most accurate thing I've ever heard? I had that exact setup, which I upgraded just like you described. xD

[–] ekortelainen@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

So.. who's gonna tell him?

How's the soundstage? tried the 560 which had pretty good sounstage but everything else was kinda dissapointing.

Just as a comparison I went from the Gameone to a 560 and kinda regret it.Too analitical/sharp?for my tastes. It's really annoying hearing so much detail when there's so much garbage audio in the internet and the 560 slaps all those audio abnormalities in your face.

Also the earpads while slightly deflated (which I prefer) are so thin. The pads on the 600 from the picture look bigger/deeper.Oh and the plastic noises. So much plastive noises with the 560.

[–] edgeofthecity@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It's hard to really talk about it without knowing what you're comparing against.

But I think the soundstage of the HD6XX is reasonable. "Intimate" is a word I'd use. I don't think it feels congested or small, but it isn't spacious either. I think it avoids the negative qualities I personally encounter on headphones or IEMs that have bad staging.

I think a lot of people really enjoy the 6XX for what it offers. But it's not soundstage focused, to be sure.

See you next week

I think you should get the Sennheiser HD 660S2 instead
