Perfect post, thanks for sharing!
My job puts me in a position to be around a lot of very successful entrepreneurs, one thing I’ve noticed is the really successful ones never focus on being rich or the money. They’re focused/obsessed with the business or the deal and the money is a by product. Most people who subscribe to hustle porn are only focused on money and being rich. They really have no clue how to get rich but they want it so bad it drives them crazy. I used to be this way and at some point I really started paying attention to how these people I wanted to be like acted, guess what? I’m headed in that direction, I now have opportunities, I get invited to sit at the table with them.
One thing I also want to add is stop trying to hustle everyone, share your success and I promise more opportunities will come your way. Most amateurs only focus on what’s in front of them right now and miss the big picture.
I’d like to add that it’s often more about ownership and control than it is about money. I know people who could be earning 8 figures TC working for other people but earn 7 figures instead just because they want control over their lives and not to have to answer to people they don’t respect all the time.
Thanks for the reminder. I just bought a website and am so excited but I also need to realize the growth will be slow or not at all.
I'm introverted and have social anxiety but I genuinely like reaching people or helping them.
I kind of did content creation by storywriting back in 2005-06 and I really enjoyed it. I had 3 loyal followers from the Cayman Islands. I was just happy they liked my story but business and side projects do take a lot of effort and thought. The best part is being in control and working on something for yourself.

You need to fail to grow. You can't just ace it in one go. I'm doing something and its taken me more than 5 years to almost break even.
Yes i fail a lot a lot but what differentiate me from my peers is writing down the cause of my failure and try to improve its not about failing or succeding its about growing
Good on you russelfighter for being so concerned about random people's well being
It's social media thats the problem. All this exposure to others success makes our failures feel even worse.

build businesses for fun
The fuck are you smoking? This is survival, not a game.
I know! I should also make a post patterned exactly like hustle porn to tell people to stop watching hustle porn so I can take a moral high ground
here i am thinking hustle porn is a new kind of fetish alpha males look for at PH lol
You created hustle porn :D
Failures are more important than successes but no one talks about their failures much.
Haha Great going man
I love the saying “don’t mistake feedback for failure”
Social media has convinced youngsters that if they aren’t rich and flexing on IG/Tik Tok by 25, they are a failure. When building a business, sometimes it is best to cut out all distractions and focus on your work. Motivation can be found in books or edutainment. Personally, I get minimal value from seeing others post vacation pics or material items with a vague caption about hustling. Doesn’t make me grind harder….it may motivate others tho idk.
Your Reddit profile tells a very different story about you.
I have landed my first client, starting my business in profit, ~60% gross margin, to a business that can easily scale with just a few clients to $300,000 per year of profit... but it took months and years to acquire the knowledge to do this, a lot of work, and relationships that I wouldn't have otherwise developed if I didn't suffer the corporate grind with a college degree... and still more work to come. Ideally, I can sell this business in a few years for multiples.
"Learning and growing." Two magic words that take discipline, self-reflection and hard work. A lot of folks aren't ready to do.
People need to understand, you can't measure success with someone else's ruler.
i never watch porn and never have.
I haven't heard that saying for a long time now. "Business for fun". Yes everyone going thru mental anguish becoz of status etc. they think itll make them happy. I would love to do business with you. I have family, i take off sometimes to get a break and enjoy moments in life. It is really what you do with life, and how you impact others leaving smiles on their faces. Thanks for your encouragement sir.
Most people watch hustle porn and get depressed because 99% of them (Let's be honest) will never make it, even with hard work.
It's refreshing to see someone acknowledge the struggles and failures that often go hand-in-hand with entrepreneurship, fucking hell
Fail: acronym for First Attempt In Learning it is the process of being an entrepreneur
I think it's an American thing. It's either become rich otherwise you're a loser and all of it is your fault.
Oh wow
Like my hustle porn?

That’s not hustle porn at all. That’s a journey that you shared. Very interesting story too!
The “hustle porn” in my mind would be you saying “I made $140k in 3 months” and ending it there.
Thanks for this. Needed to read it. Not because of the Hustle Porn but because of how hard it is to make it and how many failures does it take,
This is so true. Thank you for saying this.
What was your post , if not hustle porn? I got 25k a month and feel nothing.. not exactly a fount of knowledge.
I don't disagree with your sentiment but I also don't see it being any different than posts that make an attractive sales number and prove no real value.
Comparison is the killer of happiness
I'm doing better compared to me yesterday. No more no less
💯 just work and make a little progress every day. You’ll be depressed about how little you get done in a week but you’ll be amazed at what can get done in a year. Don’t kill yourself, take a look in the mirror every few weeks and take stock and see if this is actually what you want to be doing.
Everything else is luck & talent, which you have almost no control over (yet!).
A lot of advice seems to be like diet advice, in the end if you do some exercise and keep it up it’s probably the right answer. Don’t optimize too early.
Thanks for the reminder. It’s true, however, people watching hustle porn all day should have it firmly cemented in their minds by now that no one ever has any fiber of success without enduring and persisting through a mountain of failures.
If you can find a way to be profitable doing what you love, more power to you. I have found some success that way. Though more success came from branching out into areas I knew less about but had great potential for profit (potential for profit + shit tons of work!)
As it turns out, being profitable does a heck of a lot for one’s enjoyment and motivation.
Social networks have hurt the younger generation to the point where reality isn't what they want or the struggle it takes just to be normal is still difficult
In general i don’t think entrepreneurship is best the way to just be rich (if that’s your goal). Being a doctor is pretty much a guarantee (in the USA), as an example. Entrepreneurs are compelled to solve a problem, because they don’t like the options in front of them in the market, and that drives them crazy.
(18M) Here, just wanted to say thank you, like I feel the constant pressure of making money, it's hard since I don't really know who I am right now and that's what I am trying to figure out, but people just don't listen, everyone is telling me things like "you have to make a lot of money asap or you'll be a failure" and I nearly started to believe in that. Tho I know it is probably like, when I find myself first it all will be much easier.
I get DMs from guys right out of college who want to know how I got to where I am with my passive income from a huge referral network. They never like the part where I tell them that it takes 20 years of working really, really hard before you have the knowledge, credibility and network needed to do what I'm doing.
From 60 years of working in the computer industry with a strong interest in practical, objective philosophy, I’ve seen many examples of this phenomenon.
Look at the extreme examples for insight and inspiration. Bill Gates read biographies of highly successful people. Steve Jobs learned principles of building in quality even where no one can see it. Elon Musk has grand, long range visions and tremendous depth of understanding of physics and business, plus an almost inhuman work ethic.
Success is possible and failures are just learning steps along the way. Read biographies of these people as well as the unjustly labeled “Rubber Barons” of the late 19th century who gave us so much.
Wow. 60 years in computing?! Dude you must’ve seen some amazing inventions!
Biographies are fantastic. I would not classify them as hustle porn at all. Most biographies talk about failures more than the “hustle porn” of today
