It seems reality has set in a bit and the shine has fallen off Wemby and the Spurs lately. No one expected great things from the team this year, but to go long stretches without winning is hard for a young group, and it seems Wemby has got to do a better job at being more efficient with his shot attempts while he's in there.

Those stats for a rookie are very goof

[–] Few_Mulberry5372@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He’s washed

[–] CabbageStockExchange@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He’s gonna be fine. Spurs will be alright

[–] BrilliantLoli@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

39% for a Center is historically bad.

[–] MeteorPunch@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I was wondering why they are letting him shoot 6 threes a game? He could be working more on close to the basket shots.

[–] VagabondReborn@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He's playing really well they just need to get him a playmaking PG and he'll be a superstar in no time

[–] mMounirM@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

if I'm a Spurs fan I'd just be happy if Wemby finishes the season with no injury and good stats (despite the poor efficiency). I'd trust the FO to make the right moves to balance out the roster in his favor next season.

While this frenchman is declining, I recommend you all to you direct your attention to a frenchman that is rapidly ascending: Bilal Coulibaly. Seems like everyone had their attention on the wrong frenchman

I doubt spurs care much about winning lol. Develop guys, hope wemby dont get hurt and get another good draft pick.

A 7’4 player shooting 38% is crazy

You’re too damn big to not be at 50% fg at least

[–] toadtruck@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He needs a point guard

Needn't worry, if you just posted the shooting splits, it could've been Klay Thompson. Wemby could still become the 2nd greatest shooter ever.

[–] M00semeat60@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He better get better than Hakeem real quick

[–] CozyisCozy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

he’ll be fine lmao

[–] Ilikesporks_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

they're a tanking team, no surprises here

[–] Poopscooper696969@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Spurs are no rush, they’ll take the slow development route like okc and Memphis did

[–] WernerHerzog69420@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Their best player (Vassell) has been missing for a minute. They still won’t be good, but they’ll be better with him out there.

[–] surgeyou123@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

People were really losing their minds after his 38 pt game. Calling him an MVP candidate and Spurs a legit playoff team.

[–] UnhingedSupernova@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He's absolutely Bricktor Wembanyama but at least his defense is good.

[–] burnerbabyburns@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Anyone else afraid he’s learning bad habits cause he feels the need to jack up shots when he finally gets the ball cause his teammates can’t/won’t pass to him?

[–] chinoisbonkers@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Run Wemby at the point. No joke. Metta World Wemby time!

[–] ElcorAndy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

True, he can lob the ball to himself from the three point line for the alley oop.

[–] jumboponcho@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’ll be so glad when this Sochan as a PG shit is over, I’m not watching them while that dumb shit is going on

[–] Pretend-Square8686@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You people are insane. You expected lebron? Get real. He's doing just fine

[–] Original_Trick_8552@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Just trade for Tyus Jones, they already got his brother

[–] ResearcherEntire7203@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He is the best player on the team by a considerable amount and has some of the worse spacing I’ve ever seen (which part of it is his fault, it’s his first games in an nba offense), he doesn’t have a pg either. I feel like these numbers should be somewhat expected

[–] SmokimNoah@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Had no idea they were on a 9 game losing streak wow

[–] AmbitionExtension184@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I want him to be generational so bad but it seems Chet is the real guy. Webmy looks bad.

[–] herseyhawkins33@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Vassell barely playing certainly doesn't help

[–] GunnerRocket@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'm going to just laugh because people actually thought the Spurs were going to be a potential play-in team and Wemby was going to be an All Star.

The NBA is fucking hard folks. I'd temper expectations out of Wemby this year and next. He has a lot of bad habits to unlearn.

[–] Phenomenal2313@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Vassell was lowkey carrying the Spurs before he went down

He’s underrated for me for sure

[–] Awanderingleaf@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He isn't really elite at anything offensively yet. The pitfall of trying to be versatile.

[–] DumpTrumpGrump@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If you only watch highlights, Wemby looks pretty killer. If you watch the actual games though, well, you'll have mixed feelings at best.

He's got talent for sure. But he's way too quick to shott 3's when he should be living in the he paint right now.

[–] BehelitSam@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No one expected great things? You had everyone speaking about playoffs lmao

[–] Funny-Examination3@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Wemby was always going to be a project. His shot percentages in France weren't anything special. He shot 35% in the Euroleague (he was a high schooler though). Not to pit them against each other, but Chet was one of the most efficient players in his college class.

[–] SPECTRUX@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You telling me Bol Bol couldn’t put up those numbers with the opportunity wemby is getting?

[–] siphillis@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Really says at lot that we're pointing fingers at the nineteen-year-old rookie during a losing streak. He's already our best player.

[–] TheBottomLine_Aus@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Reality set in and the shine is falling off?

A rookie averting 17.4/9.7/3 with 2.8 blocks is shine wearing off?? Are you insane.

Efficiency from a rookie as the number 1 option is expected to be low, you're insane if you think otherwise especially in the first 15 games.

Fucking shine wearing off. Go home dude.

[–] ChancyPants95@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If they played Sochan at any position than pg they would be much better and they know that. This team isn’t doing shit this season, so they’re getting weird with it to see if anything works.

[–] jtmackay@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That's generationally bad efficiency. How are you 38% from the field when you 5 inches taller than anybody??
