Billions of people vaccinated with MRNA technology, nobody grew extra arms or turned into The Thing, and by all (credible) accounts very little harm done, especially compared to having COVID.

We finally have evidence of a vaccine for HIV/AIDS. One of the most notoriously difficult diseases to treat that we have.

But “it could harm some people” is being weaponized by the willfully ignorant as a cudgel. If we pushed so no harm to its absolute we wouldn’t be able to do any medicine, it’s why for thousands of years we’ve had experts use their judgement to determine what would be worse for the patient.

Realistically there were a few people whose heart conditions were affected, we did studies and it was a low amount. But that’s why we do studies, and that’s why doctors prescribe these things based on risk factors.

The thing is, other countries will research it and get it to work. All this does is insure that we fall behind in yet another industry.

I work at an IT company that handles VAERS info.

Fun fact that I wish had been more widely broadcast during the Pandemic:

We were 100% sure the Moderna mRNA COVID vax was safe for pregnant women the very first day it was approved for general use.

How?

During the initial "first responders only" phase, when only EMTs, doctors, and nurses were getting vaccinated, there were several thousand women who had recently become pregnant but were not yet aware of it. Once they learned of their status, of course they were tracked much more closely.

So we had a "natural experiment" at a scale far larger than most stage-3 human trials, of how the vaccine affects pregnant women and their babies.

Executive summary: it prevents the mom and the baby from getting super sick, from having complications, and from death.

IOW, while RFK is blocking pregnant mothers from getting mRNA vaccines due to health concerns and demanding studies, THE STUDIES HAVE ALREADY BEEN DONE

somebody should do a browser extension which replaces all RFK jr references to RFT Jr's brain worm. Things would make so much more sense.

That thing is long since dead. Probably starved...

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yet it still seems to be the one in charge.

[–] Bwaz@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Its brain is the only functioning one in RFKjr's skull.

That's what it wants you to think

How has nobody punched this guy in the face before? He has one of the most punchables faces I've ever seen.

Edit: really funny typo, but this is supposed to be an angry comment...

No one wants to risk getting bitten and turnimg into the leather-faced, gravel-voiced, worm-brained, moronic undead.

one of the most Lunchables faces

I know this is a typo, but yes, it still works.

[–] favoredponcho@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Is that permitted by Congress?

[–] Red0ctober@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Lol, like Congress matters to these fascists

[–] phdepressed@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

Congressional Republicans and "moderate" Dems have entirely given up their authority and there are far from enough progressives to act on this. Our injustice system strikes again because you can take the years fighting this but in the meantime it is already being done.

And I assume he has some buddyies working in those other companies he WILL support who can help us. We just need to stop using something we know is safe and works and wait however long for this new way of doing things. Wanker!
