Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

Confrontations are playing out nationwide as lawmakers conduct checks of facilities where thousands are being held

From New York to California, Democratic members of Congress have been repeatedly blocked from entering Ice detention facilities where thousands of noncitizens – many with no criminal convictions – are being held.

Democratic officials’ legislative checks – a legal right for members of Congress – have consistently confirmed reports that immigrant detainees are being kept in “filthy” and “inhumane” conditions with little regard for due process. Now, the facilities have become a battleground in the intensifying standoff between the Trump administration and Democratic lawmakers over the president’s supercharged immigration agenda.

Stand up for yourself and do something about it. Yes, he's a bully

"We don't want to look divisive"

This is why the American right ate your lunch, the left constantly punching left and refusing to accept anyone as an ally

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (2 children)

the left constantly punching left

Are Zionists and Bitcoin shills and McKinsey consultants and ex-CIA flacks on "the left"?

refusing to accept anyone as an ally

Mamdani, AOC, and Sanders have plenty of allies. None of them work at the Washington Post.

If Zionists, Bitcoin shills and the like are willing to vote and fight against Trump, then we can deal with them in the aftermath.

I never got the crypto hate on the left, anyway. So you're all anti-establishment unless money is involved? Why draw a line, to fit in with the meta?

If Zionists, Bitcoin shills and the like are willing to vote and fight against Trump

"Yes, they're fascists. But have you considered that they're our fascists?"

I see no real difference between them and people who didn't vote in November. The middle of that venn diagram doesn't look too happy.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If you can't tell the difference between these guys and these guys, idfk man.

Screaming "Vote Harder!" at Crystal Mason might make you part of the problem.

[–] Vanilla_PuddinFudge@infosec.pub 2 points 1 month ago

Their reasons don't matter as much as the result.

They're literally trying to do something about it bu~~t~~y visiting the concentration camps.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

That's not worth nothing, but I'd believe that more if they weren't defeated by a stern yet illegal "no" and immediately tried to make themselves out to be the real victims.

Do you already forget the mayor of Jersey City being forcibly arrested while trying to enter an ICE facility?

[–] brygphilomena@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They control the purse. No visits, no funds.

They need to put pay stoppages on everything. No vendors, no contractors, no salaries. Operate within the legislative model or don't operate at.

[–] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago

Democrat congressmen control the purse?

[–] optissima@lemmy.ml 40 points 1 month ago (2 children)

The goal is not to bully you, the goal is to commit human rights violations unchecked.

[–] turtlesareneat@discuss.online 3 points 1 month ago

Yeah but now they can capitulate to the "bullying" and let the GOP do whatever as usual.

Well maybe someone will issue a strongly worded press release.

[–] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de -2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Yeah wtf. Democrat politicians are NOT the fucking victims here ffs. They have been complicit in Trumps bullshit for years and just recently decided to change their minds because the money stopped flowing.

[–] MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

More distraction instead of Releasing the Trump Epstein files.

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 2 points 1 month ago

It's really not. They're not letting Congress members inspect literal concentration camps. I wonder when that has happened before...

This is issue #1. I'm all for beating the drums on the Epstein files, but the reason for that is just to fracture his base. The actual important thing right now is to stop a genocide before it gets into gear

[–] ieatpwns@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I got rid of my bully by socking him in the nuts. He left me alone after that

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Socking big balls just got DC marshal law.

[–] Manifish_Destiny@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Must have not been the right balls. Look for smaller ones maybe.
