its possible by making 2 out of every 3 ft and 9 out of ever 20 3 point attempt

Low volume 3 point shooting and still somewhat small sample size
Bruce bowen in 2002-2003 shot 44% from 3 and 40% from FT.
Holy shit, I remember Bowen being a defensive menace but I had no idea he was so bad from the line.
Career 39% shooter from 3 and 57% from the line. The craziest shooting anomaly for sure
Us old heads call that the Bruce Bowen
Because it’s a small sample size for his 3pter. Maybe he improved this year, but again you are comparing something with small sample size to something with a bigger sample size
Now let's look up Bruce Bowen's shooting splits.
Just like his idol.
Stick a defender on him at the line and hope he shoots better
66 > 45
heard of bruce bowen?
Buddy Hield syndrome
Does nobody on this entire fucking subreddit know a thing about sample size?
I think it’s something we may see more of in the future. I imagine the whole Steph generation of kids have spent far more time working on 3s than FT. It’ll be interesting to see if FT% continues to be a good predictor of 3PT shooting in the future.
Not sure why the downvotes here. I agree.
I grew up before Steph changed everything and even then I focused way too much on shooting 3s. I couldn't hit a 15 foot jumper shot to save my life but I shot 35-40% from three...and shot terribly from the line for the most part, the few times I actually got to the line.
Some players just have that 3pt shot muscle memory hardwired into them and a lot of shots from inside the arc come secondary. I'm 32 now and when I play pickup still I have an easier time hitting a 3 than making a goddam layup some nights lol
Pelicans fan here……take it from me, even our best shooters are ABYSMAL at free throw shooting, especially in the clutch. Our best free throw shooter is probably Herb Jones, known for his defense.
How's that giddy guys ft% maybe Paolo can try some 1on1 with high-schoolers to improve his shot
Bruh
Well first of all, through small sample sizes all things are possible, so jot that down
Sample size, there's a lot of players shooting insane splits to start this season. For example the thunder are shooting insane, they won't keep that up for the entire season.
Sample size. I will eat a shoe if those numbers are still similar by the end of the year. The three-point shooting will go down and the free throw shooting will go up and even out a bit
It’s not that uncommon tbh, some players use a lot of their legs/jump to shoot 3s and have trouble adjusting their form for free throws where they can’t jump
Kendrich Williams is a career 35 3P% and 51 FT%. Seems like a mental block.
My guess is he’s making 3’s more than his free throws.
The free-throw is a set shot.
Wasn’t that something similar with JR Smith? Even had multiple games with more than 10 3 pointers a game yet was an awful FT shooter
He will fix that overtime. He is hella young
It’s astounding how many people don’t understand sample size when it comes to 3pt% in this thread.
Well it’s because roughly 45% of his attempts from 3 are going in but when he shoots FTs, he is only making about 66%
So on average, for every 11 3PA he makes 5 and for every 3 FTA he makes about 2, hope this helps
What ever to Rick Barry's underhand free throw style?
3’s before Free’s
As a former grade school center I feel I can provide some insight, free throws are scary.
I was positive this post was gonna end with "Is he stupid?"
Paolo = Baby Bron
It’s been 13 games
Sample is small
Gary Trent Jr…
A lot of times free throws are a mental thing. People stand there and psych themselves out.
Ask lebron. Doing damn near the same shit rn
FTs are all about rhythm, and for some guys it's hard to find a good rhythm from a standstill like that compared to catch and shoot or off the dribble. Rhythm = repeatability
Because free throw shooting is something that you need to practice on its own in order to be good at. I read an article about this a while back and Steve Nash mentioned in that article that he spent a lot of time practicing his free throws. Not just because you're a shooter means you're automatic out there
Take a peak at Andrew Wiggins splits recently
Free throws are largely mental. Every pro makes 95% of their free throws in practice
Allow me to explain this, gentlemen.
He is quite talented at three-point shots, but he is poor at free-throw shots.
The curry effect, when kids practice 3s more than free throws 💀
hes got some yips.
I mean you can shoot free throws from behind the arc if you want
