This team is so incompetent it's crazy

The real crime was not getting a better backup QB in the off-season
We already knew from last year that Zach Wilson is mega ass
This can only be explained as a team being so competent at being incompetent. So in a weird roundabout way they the jets are extremely good at being bad
Jets really spent like 160 million to build Aaron Rodgers a retirement community where he can hang out with his friends
It's wild to think that if the Jets weren't so busy stroking Aaron's ego, they could have added a competent QB to replace him by week 2. Even just top 25 QB play, they're likely fighting for the division title. Such a wasted season for them.
Dobbs or Wentz would have won games for them, it's crazy
Anything more than stapling your nuts to your leg and thanking Streamline for making antibacterial staples would have had them in contention for the division lead. But somebody who is a player personnel decision maker is this big of a masochist on that staff or that bad of a decision maker to think they could make work at QB what they have tried.
Dobbs yes. Dalton or Winston yes. Lots of other nfl backups yes. But Wentz is a bum.
Hell even just keeping Mike White there would've been a hell of a lot better than what they've done.
i can't believe this sub is still sticking with the narrative that a dobbs, wentz, winston, or dalton would have made the jets better lmao they probably win the patriots game and nothing else changes.
- the cowboys game was a blowout that even aaron rodgers would've lost
- patriots, one or all of them win it
- chiefs, zach wilson played as good as you could hope and still lost
- chargers blow out and overall display of complete offensive incompetence with a rare special teams blunder as well
- raiders, wilson accounted for 300 total yards lol team scored a rushing TD which honestly would've probably ended it, but penalty called it back
- bills blowout
- dolphins blowout (maybe this one? cause if boyle doesn't throw a pick 6 before half you're starting the third quarter down 10-6 and picked off tua twice).
so sorry, maybe two more wins and i'm being generous saying they could have won yesterday.
- the offensive coordinator is the worst in the league
- the offensive line is on their 167th different alignment
- receivers don't get open outside of garrett (and conk who is mainly a checkdown) because of point 1 and 2
- dropsies from the receivers is an issue as well if they do manage to get open
- they cannot establish a run game because of point 1 and 2
- they are penalized at an alarming rate negating any good offensive progress majority of the time as well lol because of point 2 (lots of holds)
the jets qbs are bad, but all the above is true as well and swapping in another backup-level player isn't going to magically fix these things. this sub continues to pretend though that other backups would navigate through all this and lead the jets to the playoffs and i can't understand it as someone who watches how bad they're failing at every aspect offensively. only aaron rodgers would make a meaningful impact because he would ignore the OC 95% of the time.
Such a wasted season for them.
it was wasted as soon as rodgers went down. if they got dobbs or wentz they might win 9 games, squeak into the playoffs, and lose in the wildcard. they should have gone all in on the tank
Eh, playoffs are playoffs, though. More revenue for the team, and literally anything can happen in the playoffs. Burrows been lost, bills are not the same, mahomes looks human, etc. jets have a phenomenal D and every year it gets harder to keep a core together. Just getting to the dance gives you a chance!
Yeah, idgaf if we get there and get blown out in the wildcard. I just wanna be there
they should have gone all in on the tank
I don’t think it gets said enough but you can’t just waste a season tanking with players who are busting their ass week in and week out.
Sure, it’s easy as fans for us to say that but coaches still have to have a game plan that won’t cause the locker room to fall apart. Doesn’t help to have your starting QB get hurt but a team like the Vikings rallied around Dobbs and they fight hard even when their season looked lost.
Apparently ownership are the ones forcing the zach Wilson “experiment” to continue. Saleh basically said the decision to keep playing him was out of his hands. I don’t think it has anything to do with rodgers
I believe in Boyle
“He battled out there” translates to “he sucked but we don’t have a better option”
That’s not true either. Where is the Semen Demon
It's very possible that: a) Trevor SOMEHOW sucks even more or b) the jets either don't want trevor to get murdered behind that o-line or are saving him for when boyle does get murdered behind that o-line.
He’d be slangin’ that thang
on one hand our tank is so fucking over, on the other it'll be a comfort still having an active link to the Brady era
I mean, the Jets are clearly tanking at this point. But why bother signing Siemian (who has been better than either of the Jets healthy QBs his entire career in the NFL) if you're not going to play him?
Trevor Siemian playing from week 2 on probably has this team in playoff contention. Hell, there are a bunch of QBs, several of which were available, that were all clearly better than Boyle (and Wilson, but especially Boyle) that could've kept the season afloat.
Like the Jets just haven't done anything to try to improve the offense once Rodgers went down. They didn't go out and try to bring in new OL. They didn't improve at QB. They just acted like the offense as-is was sufficient, despite all the mounting evidence that it wasn't.
Unless it was an ownership directive (and even then) I really think the whole org gets canned at the end of the season.
The win week 1 staved off a lot of this criticism, and probably ultimately did a disservice to the team as a whole.
It was so predictable too - like you can't count on getting 4 turnovers or having your running back go for 127 yard on 10 carries. The way they won was obviously unsustainable on offense.
Getting 4 turnovers and only winning by 6 tells you that your offense needs serious help.
I don't think the Jets would want to trade capital for Brisset/Lance, and maybe not even Dobbs. But it's absolutely malpractice to not kick the tires on Wentz
There were a multitude of options available to them, as I've laid out, and they opted to do nothing.
It doesn't matter if you take issue with any given one, with barely any thought I could come up with 6 different ways to add to the QB room and potentially improve there. Two of them were fully within their control (as in, don't require someone to be willing to trade an asset) and they just didn't do them. It's complete malpractice.
Do y‘all think they will keep their jobs? Rodgers will come back next season and they still have their first rounder and could get another good WR. Fixing that O-line will be tough though.
To be fair to Tim Boyle, it wasn’t his fault Holland returned a 99 yard interception return for a TD. Plenty of other players could’ve and should’ve made that tackle..pathetic.
The players in the endzone just watched that ball sail over to Holland and didn't even try to shift over. Such a cluster fuck.
The Jets offence gets confused when they see a ball approach the end zone. Only the defence knows what to do.
Doesn’t matter who you trot out when the offense line is garbage.
Is Tim Boyle legitimately the worst non-rookie QB ever to have at least five starts? Honestly, is there any QB in the history of the NFL that is worse than him?
Peterman's gotta be close, although at least he had success in college
Peterman also is a preseason god, while Boyle looks ass even in the preseason
I'll get back to you.
Unless they are officially tanking, there is zero reason why a proven spot started like Seimian isn't out there
I wish my parents had been as supportive as Robert Saleh is of his terrible QBs.
he needs to be fired at this point. i’ve defended him. but you’re letting your team down yet AGAIN
This is what we call waiving the white flag. What part of anything Tim Boyle has done in his surprisingly long nfl career would make anyone think, “gosh, we can win with this guy?”
Seriously, what did Trevor Siemian do to Robert Saleh? There's no way he's worse than Tim Boyle
I was rewatching Band of Brothers last night and there's a scene where a private admits to his lieutenant that he hid during battle because he was afraid. The lieutenant responds with something along the lines of "all of this gets easier once you accept that there is no hope, you're already dead"
Whole lot of Jets fans out there that could use the same advice. This season is dead as a doorknob and you still have people losing their shit and stressing out over whether Tim Boyle or Trevor Semian plays the next game...
I feel bad for the Jets
Should have kept Mike White and let him "compete" (read "win") the second string and this team is at worst .500 imo.
I get that Rodgers loves Boyle in the QB room, but he has no business being an NFL player. The Jets should have just made him a QB coach.
Captain Saleh: "We've struck an iceberg and the ship is sinking...as you know the Captain always goes down with the ship"
Tim Boyle: "You are a brave man, sir"
Robert Saleh: "So, that is why I am making you Captain of this team. Go luck to you"
