Joker is eventually going to surpass some great point guards in assists.

[–] FrnklndaTurtle@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Who do you think he can catch? If he could get up to IT that would be impressive

[–] matzan@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Isaiah Thomas is at 9061, so Jokić would need 4960 more. In the last 5 seasons he had an average of 8 APG, or 656 assists per season. If he keeps that up, he'll be there in 7-8 seasons.

It would be impressive. Gonna be tough though

Bill Russell could be great all he wants.

I would rather have Jokic over Bill Russell on my team.

I would rather have 2063 MVP Xander Skibidi Johnson over Jokic on my team. Bill Russell was further away from his competition at the time than Jokic is now. His only real competition was Wilt and last I checked 11 is more than 2.

The rules for for AST ar different then Russ, Wilt, and KAJs time. Jokic should break that wide open

[–] Veserius@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

In Wilt's playmaking prime his teams had over 25% more possessions a game than the current Nuggets so. So the rules get offset a bit by that.

[–] IHateYouKids@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

In Wilt's day you could not step or dribble to record an assist, so pace doesn't mean much to me in that instance

[–] Ace_FGC@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I read a while ago that wilt would actually yell at his teammates if they took a dribble and he wouldn’t get an assist

[–] IHateYouKids@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Both the positive and negative about Wilt need a block of salt.

People still quote Rick Barry for slamming Wilt and don't know about the full retraction he issued. One guy claims Wilt scooped him up on a dunk attempt and sat him on the rim...folklore. Wilt yelling at most anybody seems out of character.

I was with you until this bit -

Wilt yelling at most anybody seems out of character.

How can you reasonably discern what is or isn't out of character for him?

[–] NightsBlood94@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

There is a story from kareem where him and wilt are in an elevator with another guy and the guy asks wilt how's the weather up there and wilt spits on the guy and says it's raining.

[–] BcuzRacecar@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Lw shocked how far away he is from kareem, yea he played for hella long but still.

Also you made me check that I missed them playing today

[–] Beavshak@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

On this track he’ll be coaching my team in a few years and will be using his horses to deny people landing on his island.

I am ok with this.

[–] dys0n_giddey@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Most surprising thing about this is all the old names still being in the top 10

[–] pokexchespin@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

at his overall career average of 6.7 assists per game, he’d need about 233 games to move into #\1. his average since his first all star year, 193 games. his average since his first mvp year, 180. so seems practically guaranteed he takes a commanding lead

[–] NicolasName@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

If Jokic averages 9.3 assists the next 168 games he plays, he’ll be number 1 in half the games it took KAJ.

[–] homiez@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Its crazy his average assists is double any else. He is a generational big man.

[–] dash_44@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Kareem was a bucket…he wasn’t passing much unless he had to

[–] ProsecUsig@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Everyone remembered Russell as an excellent playmaker, loved passing to win

Tells alot about another winner in Jokic

[–] SG-2000@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

He would need 9.7 apg and zero games missed the rest of the way. 10.9 if he plays 75 games.

Honestly, he might be able to do it. However, one caveat, how many assists do you think Wilt got for just handing the ball off at the top of the key…

[–] Savings_Fig_6233@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Not a lot since if the guy dribble you didn’t get an assist and I doubt the ran a lot of high post actions like that back in the 60s

[–] n00-1ne@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Is Jokic or Russell the guy with the glasses?

[–] A_Texas_Hobo@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

This is underrated
