How long until someone hacks a drone and uses it to commit a school shooting?

[–] Truscape@lemmy.blahaj.zone 47 points 1 month ago (1 children)

How long until someone creates a plausibly convincing fake of these drones and uses them to perform a false flag or massacre with no chance of culpability?

[–] Bane_Killgrind@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 month ago

Oh I guess that would be easier

[–] TeddE@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Or some situation arises where innocent students are the target

[–] yetAnotherUser@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

"You see, your kids died, but at least it was only your kids, and not anyone else. They probably would have died from the shooting anyways lmao"

[–] TeddE@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Or when they start using the drones as truancy officers as a cost cutting measure …

[–] Darkenfolk@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

"Truancy is at an all time low" report various government instances. Oddly enough child sized coffins sales at an all time high, experts call it an "odd coincidence" more at 5.

[–] Deestan@lemmy.world 73 points 1 month ago (3 children)

The number of guns will be increased again to handle the problems caused by the increased number of guns.

[–] BeanGoblin@lemmy.blahaj.zone 49 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The shootings will continue until morale improves

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

The shootings will continue until ~~morale~~ the shootings improve~~s~~

[–] TheFeatureCreature@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 month ago

An American solution to an American problem.

[–] marlowe221@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

If only there were some easily identifiable common denominator…

[–] gedaliyah@lemmy.world 46 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Florida once again forgets that Black Mirror is a cautionary tale.

Soon they will reveal their latest invention, the Torment Nexus, from the hit Sci Fi novel, Don't Create the Torment Nexus.

Yeah this will go swimmingly. Especially if you’re the supplier of drones to the schools.

These will be purchased, sit in a cabinet and never be charged or maintained. When they are “needed”, no one will know how to operate them or what they can do.

This is a waste of money from the hit git go.

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 16 points 1 month ago

I give it 6 months before some kid asks ChatGPT to help him hijack these drones instead of bringing a gun of his own. He’ll murder his classmates with irony.

[–] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 29 points 1 month ago (2 children)

And when one of these Drones KILLS INNOCENT CHILDREN we can get Drones for our Drones to Protect our Kids from our Drones we Put in Their SCHOOLS!

[–] Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 month ago

You are now moderator of the Drone Marketing Association sub.

[–] turdburglar@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 month ago

the only way to stop a bad drone with a gun is….

[–] mogranja@lemmy.world 27 points 1 month ago

We'll find out how successful the system is soon enough.

Yikes.

[–] Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca 24 points 1 month ago

What a shithole country.

[–] shittydwarf@sh.itjust.works 23 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Me watching T2 as a kid: this will never happen.
Me now: oh

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 22 points 1 month ago (1 children)

As long as the drones are fully autonomous but still use WiFi with the factory default password, it should be OK.

[–] MaggiWuerze@feddit.org 11 points 1 month ago

Don't forget, that the password is written on the bottom, so its visible when they fly above you

[–] ideonek@piefed.social 20 points 1 month ago

How can you read a proposal like this and not immediately go "Nope. That's it. We went too far. We lost. Let's circle back and start this entire society again from scratch"?

[–] dissentiate@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I'm starting to feel like I'm living the prequel to Cyberpunk 2077...

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 14 points 1 month ago

You better start believing in cyberpunk dystopias, Miss Turner. You're in one!

[–] Truscape@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Brother, I'm already living in night city.

[–] dissentiate@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 1 month ago

Don't worry choom, we'll get through this somehow...

[–] cley_faye@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The only thing to prevent school shooting seems to be more guns, AND more automated guns. Somehow.

[–] Theoriginalthon@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's not guns that are the problem, it's bullets, just ban selling bullets, let everyone keep there guns, problem will sort itself in a year or 2

I predict this will end in complete success.

We shall define "success" later.

[–] dan1101@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They will decide they don't really want to do it after all. After millions has been given to various companies and contractors.

Can't be any school shootings if there isn't either school or children in them. Success.

[–] darreninthenet@piefed.social 15 points 1 month ago

What could possibly go wrong 🤦🏻‍♂️

[–] apftwb@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Can the armed drone open classroom doors better than Uvalde police officers?

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

A dead fish can open doors better than Uvalde police officers.

Anything to get rid of gun violence, as long as you don't get rid of guns.

[–] Goldholz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 1 month ago

Because that is much more efficient than just simply having GUN CONTROL! Why not give every school an APV AND TANKS?!

[–] Alenalda@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

Why address the underlying issues when we can sell weapons to all sides? The only things we make where in America are weapons and fossil fuels. There's money to be made!

[–] shirro@aussie.zone 9 points 1 month ago

Americans are dumb cunts.

HAAACCCKKKKS

Manhacks HL2

[–] PumpkinSkink@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

As a teacher, my first question to admin would be "so what do we do when a group of 15 year old boys get it and start flying it around the neighborhood"?

[–] NoodlePoint@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Fucking stupidest idea I ever seen.

The US has more guns than its total population. Real GUN CONTROL is needed.

[–] desmosthenes@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

anything but the actual solution. like we had automatics and semi autos back when in the start of the country

[–] andre613@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago

ANYTHING to avoid sensible gun control eh? Just throw more guns at the problem!

[–] crystalmerchant@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

S L A U G H T E R B O T S

[–] lenz@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago

This seems like a stupendously bad idea on its face. Haven’t they heard of Murphy’s Law?
