Didn't watch the game, but 39 pts with only 5FTs and no 3PTA is wild.

[–] Ass-Packer@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

If Jokic had embiid’s whistle he would average 40+ a game

If embiid had jokic’s whistle he would average below 20

[–] RatLord445@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Thought this was hyperbolic, it’s actually fucking true and it’s enough to make me sick

[–] Lol69HaHaHa@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Well thats an instant +10 points per game lol

[–] MACKE-BLITZ@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Jokic should change his name to Embiid.

[–] RatLord445@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Thats how it always is, you can hack jokic all you want in the paint, with shaq it was doable cause the dude missed half his fts but naah jokic cant get that

[–] tristvn@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

3 of his FTs were and 1s lmao

[–] icantreadmorsecode@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Another Sombor Double

[–] kaceytronwhiteknight@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (5 children)

Wemby shot more free throws than Jokic lmfao has any professional sport hated it's best player more than the NBA hates jokic? This shit is getting absurd

[–] mares8@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They are hating him even more season after FMVP and tittle lol dunno wtf is up with that... With fair whistle Nuggets would have had few more wins already we got robbed vs teams like Magic ..

We are second to last team on FTA this year its ridiculous considering how much Nuggets fight in paint especially Jokic who gets fouled often without whistle

[–] Starfreeze@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah the NBA like the 2-3 years when it was Steph lmao

[–] everyoneneedsaherro@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yes. Curry. He got no calls and somehow still never does

[–] foothepepe@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I don't get this. With Jok I kinda understand their rationale - big guy, fuck him, he can handle it. Also, he's good enough without the fouls.

But Curry I don't get.

[–] azzelle@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

lebron for a while just gets smacked in every drive and people would make fun of him for complaining about no whistles

[–] edwardhyeung@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

9 assists again SMH ...

[–] Middle-Welder3931@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Any word on when Murray returns? Meanwhile, more of this from MPJ would help the Nuggets a lot. He needs to show that "consensus best player in his HS class" talent when Murray is out.

[–] fattymaggo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He has been their most consistent shooter besides Jokic since Murray has been out, he is average 19-20 PPG on good shooting splits. It has mostly been AG and KCP that has struggled on the road this year (and their bench being a bit of a mess).

[–] FireBeeChin@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

While I agree that certain lineups could lead to more winning basketball, I think that the spurs team in general just does not have a lot of talent. It is obvious the team craters without wemby. Everyone seems to forget that you can't just play tre 48 minutes a game; the focus should be putting wemby in tough situations, not easy ones, for his development.

[–] Bonesawisready5@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Really good game from Wemby just damn this team is lost without him on the floor. 22/11/2/6/4 in only 3 quarters and 25 mins. 7th player to do that stat line all time and 10 mins less than anyone less

[–] No-Independence-761@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Don't know why Malone was refusing to give holiday any serious minutes before this game especially considering how clueless our bench offence is.

Also I liked the way the offence looked with MPJ at the 4.

[–] petarisawesomeo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I suspect he wanted to see what he has in the young guys. Holiday is reliable and plays hard but has a low ceiling.

Jokic does this stuff so causally man. And if you watch the game, the numbers don't do it justice. There's just this utter sense of control.

65% at the rim, 63% from mid range.

There's no player in the NBA who could take this roster (without Murray) into the playoffs, imo. With Giannis stepping up, KD having a hell of a season, and Embiid learning to playmake, I've seen fans argue cases for those guys either being the best in the world, or, AS good as Jokic right now/as impressive.

And to those fans... I ask, why? What bias do you have that makes you say this?

There's no one who is as impressive by the eye test. There's no one as impressive on paper. And there's no one close to him in ANY advanced stat this year.

This season, he's currently having the best PER season of all time, which leaves him with the two best ever. He's also having the best BPM season ever, a stat in which he has the top 2 ever. He also is having another top 10 all time WS/48 season ever, and WAS having the best season of all time prior to Murray going down, and his two ejections.

Yes. PER, WS/48 and BPM aren't the best statistics, but the fact is, he's putting up all time great PER, WS/48, and BPM seasons at a level and frequency only occupied by Michael Jordan and Lebron James. Consider the fact that he's leading the NBA in PER, WS/48, BPM as well as in VORP, EPM and PIE this season, again, after winning the finals without another all star...

There's no one close right now. And you can count on one hand how many players have EVER peaked higher.

Who has definitely peaked higher? I think it’s fairer to say you can count on one hand the number of players other than him in the debate.

[–] ComfortableDino@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

MJ, LeBron, Shaq for certain imo.

I think you could make a case for Bird and Hakeem as well, if we're talking 2-3 season peaks.

[–] fattymaggo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

“This roster”? Why are you talking about the Nuggets like they are not a good team? They are the defending champs lol.

[–] azzelle@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

There's no one who is as impressive by the eye test.

by the eye test, embiid and SGA are as impressive. on paper they both have better defensive counting stats. its a three way race at this point

[–] TheNaskgul@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Can someone just tell me if we’re decent or useless? Thanks

[–] shazam482@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We're missing a star player, so we're good against bad teams and bad against good teams. Unfortunately this is the West, so everyone is competitive.

[–] Adealow@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The starter is better, but the bench is worse, so same position as last year the difference is the west or the league in general are better.

[–] matzan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

KCP should get more minutes.

[–] thisissami@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Hey can anybody post a streamable of that moment where Braun deflected the pass going to Wemby, and then another nugget blocked Vassell? That was sick!!! I'm hoping there are replays too. :)

[–] offcourtissues@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Jokic has to have the record for most “one assist shy of a” triple doubles

[–] phonsely@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

pretty sure he does and by quite a bit

[–] HashCollector@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think big O has 70 or so, and Jokic is at 44 or 45

[–] Sybilsthrowaway@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

not that the nuggets are any indication but I really truly think that people don't understand how awful this spurs team is right now. so many of the guys getting minutes on this team have no business being o NBA rosters. they weren't good a couple years ago and since then they've added a bunch of projects, lost josh primo, and traded every winning basketball player older than like 23.

[–] NC_Vixen@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Seriously, if anyone doesn't think Jokic isn't in GOAT contention by now, IDK what game you are watching.

How has 'basically' a 40 point triple double on insane efficiency become just a normal thing to people.

Like Jokic hardly has a team around him today, and they are still playing their 3rd stringers. Justin Holiday with 27 minutes?! Reggie Jackson with 28, like he wasn't basically out of the league. Christian Braun for 24 minutes. Julian Strawther (who) for 19 minutes. Like any other player than Jokic and this team loses by 30.

[–] nuggs_analysis@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’m with you up until the last sentence. Steph or KD with this roster and a league average big man would not have gotten blown out by 30 at home to the Spurs. They might lose, but not by 30.

[–] RatLord445@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Without the freethrows too btw, while shaq gets 12 fts a game and scores 6 of them jokic just gets 3 per game lmao

[–] deneuvig@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I mean GOAT Convo is pushing it by a lot when looking at the achievements of guys like MJ, LeBron, Bird, Magic, Duncan, O'Neal etc. That doesn't mean he can't get there but he'd need a few more chips

[–] NC_Vixen@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Eh, he's only 28, but like if LeBron had 1 championship, I'd still look at him as being in GOAT contention

[–] Sm0k3inth3tr33s@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Jokic is really just in another planet

[–] futurehousehusband69@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That's it im gonna say it: this Jokic guy is pretty good at basketball

[–] LevynX@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Why is tanking something you're allowed to, much less be socially acceptable to do.

[–] amcfarla@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Another Somber triple double.
