A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

Hey all!

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post my question, so just say the word if you want me to post it elsewhere. I'm doing photos of kids with Santa for my town. It's a free event where kids can meet Santa and I am there to snap a quick photo of it. In the past, I would e-mail out the photos to the participants using a Yahoo address specifically for this purpose.

Last year for the first time, Yahoo shut down my e-mail and a bunch of photos never went through. I have no idea why - I can only guess someone flagged me as spam? As a result, I'm nervous to try e-mailing again. Is there a better way to go about distributing the shots? I usually shoot about 100 families. Most people only get one photo but sometimes I wind up sending two if I think they're both good. I thought about creating an online album the participants could download directly from but I was concerned with privacy issues. Plus then everyone will be able to see who did or didn't get more than one photo. And if there's one thing I've learned from this, people love to bitch about their FREE photo!

I'd welcome any thoughts and suggestions you have on how best to manage the photo distribution!

Thanks!!!

Any cloud service. I personally use Google Drive for large albums and just a WeTransfer if I have to quickly share some shots.

I use several drive services like Google Drive, One Drive, and even Dropbox if needed.

Now, I do share the folders to whoever has the link, they are not exactly public, but depending on the context and client / final user, they can share among themselves. Imagine a wedding where I send the photos to the bride and groom. They are free to share that link with the guests if they want. I have the photos for sale in my website anyway (print sales, not digital downloads or whatever).

This is more than enough and everyone can open and download the photos with quality and not worrying about spamming or sharing your email.

Pic-time has a free option, a great interface, and implementation for photo sales and prints. Dump all the pictures in there and send one link out to everyone.
