Just a random thought, but I really do believe this team has way too much talent, even on paper, to have a 5-13 record. They have 2 all star scoring guards (DeRozan even made it last year) Vucevic who while not at his all star level anymore, is still a good center. They have probably the best guard defender in the league, some decent role players. There is just 0 reason why they should have a worse record than the Jazz (no offense) or the Hornets. Idk if its mainly a coaching or effort issue or what

DeRozan and LaVine haven't really played at All Star levels this season and neither make their teammates better at all

I mean the defense sucks, youngins never got good, the main core is getting worse, bad coaching, and they still dont have anyone legit playmaker

They do not really fit with each other is the explanation.

Derozan and Lavine (even more so) are great examples of guys who can score but don’t make their teams better.

there are a lot of NBA rosters that would improve if they added Derozan IMO

DeRozan has been empty stats guy for a while now. Lavine doesn’t play much defense, Vucevic is old, he’s been around forever. Most of the rest of the roster would make for a lottery team in the g league

All of those guys are not really that great. DeMar has gotten a bit worse each year so far Chicago which is to be expected at his age. Lavine hasn't made any improvements. And all three of them are negative defenders. Combine that with another year without Lonzo (which is the main factor imo) + Caruso not being able to play the heavy minutes he did the first year in Chicago and we're seeing the team gradually fall apart.

No, it's really not.

A Mid-3.

What's actually CRAZY is that anyone is remotely surprised by this. Up to and including the Chicago front office.

That is a tanking situation if I've ever seen one. But, somehow, they are even fucking that up. The trade value of their players are plummeting every single game.

I put chocolate chips on a pepperoni pizza and then dipped it in crab bisque.

I'm shocked that things that are good in isolation sometimes don't work well together.
