Before the season started and even now when I look at different websites top 50 players list a lot of them have Jamal Murray higher than other point guards Like Ja, Fox, and Brunson. I think the only guy worth having a conversation about is Jalen Brunson, and I still think Jalen is a better player than Murray by a good margin. I think if Jamal was asked to play a true point guard role and was asked to lead a team, it wouldn’t work. I think his play style compliments really well with Jokic, and if you switched him and Brunson’s positions it wouldn’t even be a conversation. Yes Jamal Murray elevates to unreal levels in the playoffs but puts up fringe all star numbers in the regular season, and Brunson is levels above that, he is a borderline all nba player, and without Jokic I do not think Jamal Murray could ever be that.

It's tough because Jokic elevates his team mates in a crazy way, and Murray has some legendary playoff performances, but yeah in a vacuum I'd probably take Brunson.

[–] PaytonPeytonPaton@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

he does but he does not elevate jamal, thats all him, jamal doesnt get spoonfed by jokic, hes creating plays on his own, he makes jokic's life easier than vice versa. only thing jokic does for him is some nice reverse pnr plays, dribble HOs and causes him to not get doubled

But the way Jokic elevates Murray isn't magic. Murray's lowkey one of the best off-ball players in the league. He's elite at cutting, relocating, and catch & shoot. I think stars should get credit for having scalable playstyles, especially if they're in that 16-25 range and can't be the #1 on a championship team.

That being said this is tough since both elevate in the playoffs, and Brunson is probably the safer option.

That's fair. Don't get me wrong, Murray is an outstanding player in his own right, and it's not a knock on him that he's playing with Jokic.

Just makes you wonder what their games/numbers might look like if they swapped situations.

they literally had the same exact playoff stats last year, it's not "easily"

Jamal has deeper bags and can carry and elevate a playoff team while Brunson relentlessly get hunted by Butler in the playoffs.

Yes easy choice for me as well. Jamal Murray is a bigger guard. If you draft them today in the same draft i think Murray will get drafted before brunson.

Who has Jamal Murray higher than Fox?

Probably Brunson slightly in general but Denver would much rather have Murray

do a 1:1 swap for Jamal and Brunson, do the Nuggets not still win a ring last year?

[–] peroper7@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I’m taking Jamal but it’s no shade to Brunson, they’re both really good

[–] angel2timez@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

GIVE ME BRUNSON. Seriously tho, Brunson is so underrated, feels like he’s never in a slump, always level headed and extremely clutch. I LOVE HIM

I feel like it’s impossible to say. Both have close playoff stats, but Murray has had more success since he’s on a better team.

Brunson puts up better regular season numbers, but he’s the #1 (or #1a vs Randle’s #1b) option on a worse team than Jamal, who’s the clear #2 on a better team.

Jamal has Jokic to feed him shots, though he can still create his own shot opportunities when he needs to. That probably isn’t tested as much as for Brunson, who has to create so many of his own shots.

Defence wise I honestly haven’t seen enough of either or paid enough attention to split the two. Jamal’s a better on ball defender, I think, but Brunson’s elite at some more niche things like drawing charges.
